Wayne County residents gather at Woolster City Park for the annual picnic and homecoming event. Attendees expect community booths, local music, and commemorations with activities scheduled across the afternoon.

Friends and relatives gathered at the home of Mr and Mrs Gerberich in Rittman to celebrate their fiftieth wedding anniversary and Mr Gerberichs seventy sixth birthday. Mrs Ira Shafer entertained an auto party of former Marshallville schoolmates and friends last Thursday evening. The gathering honored Mrs Fred Ine now of Kansas City formerly of Marshallville with tales of shared events and light vocal and instrumental selections. Hefea refreshments were served and guests reported a good time.
John Fysher Webb Mongey and Doug Lance returned from a 10 day fishing trip in Bobcaygeon Ontario last Saturday night. They reported very good fishing with Lance catching the largest bass and Mongey the largest muskalunge. The trip included forest weather and very dry conditions.
Wayne county may receive only a small portion of 150 million dollars in federal funds to be distributed for road improvements next year. The county’s share is to be apportioned by the state highway commissioner. Ohio is expected to receive about 187 thousand dollars, with Wayne County likely receiving a small amount. Washington plans and timing may affect the final allocation, with a meeting of state highway commissioners and possible February applications delaying final apportionment.
