Annual Firemen Carnival Frames Marshallville Event
The Marshallville Firemen's Carnival will be held Friday and Saturday nights August 3 and 4. Doylestown Home-Coming and Carnival starts next Wednesday and runs every night through Saturday plus Saturday afternoon for a children's program. A home-coming parade of floats and marching groups will open the Doylestown event, announced Chas. E. Ault Jr.

Rittman officials plan city clean up before Home Coming
James M. Hile, general chairman of the Home-Coming, thanks Mayor Hoover for urging Rittman to join a city wide cleanup and paint up effort. Bill Anshutz is recovering after a single vehicle crash on Route 3 near Creston July 14. He was treated at Lodi Hospital for a broken collar bone and facial and knee cuts requiring stitches. The Ohio Boxboard Co. employee was alone in his car when a road hole caused him to lose control and crash into a tree.

Paul Emch began building a house on West Sunset Drive when the sewer lateral was found at 42 inches deep instead of 72. A power shovel was needed to dig a ditch and tear up the old line, costing about 100. Officials say a full-time city engineer could have prevented the expense and problems in a growing town like Rittman.
