Plastapac to Produce Flower Pots in Rittman

RAID announces the purchase of the former Strata-Aire building on South Main Street and leases it to Plastapac Corporation a new firm to mold plastic products. Forest Wall president says production begins immediately on flower pots for Florist Telegraph Delivery Company with 30 local employees planned as orders grow.

Ramsier Roofing Sold to Ed Imhoff

The sale of Ramsier Roofing and Sheet Metal to Ed L. Imhoff was announced this week. Imhoff, a local balding contractor and longtime Rittman resident, will locate his sheet metal, air conditioning, heating and roofing business at 71 Salt Street as Ramster Sheet Metal, Ed L. Imhoff, owner. Present employees will remain with the firm. Imhoff and his wife Mildred live at RD 1 Rittman with daughters Pam and Lynn.

Route 94 Will Skirt Lake Site

Route 94 will be graded to raise the highway above water level between Rittman and Wadsworth to avoid a reservoir. Engineering plans by Engineering Associates of Wooster target 1966 construction with a 7.6 mile new route from Ohio 5 to US 224 and limited access sections. Local officials including Jack Sommer and Charles Mann attended the Ashland meeting on re locating the Wadsworth airport.

Bow Sees Federal Spending Outpacing Revenue

Frank T. Bow compares federal fiscal results to a family budget in the 1963 record. He notes revenue rose but spending rose more, adding about 6.23 billion debt over three years, with defense costs insufficient to cover the deficit and emergency action urged to protect the dollar.

RHS Band and Drill Team Join Fun Festival Parade

Rittman High School marching band and the 447th Civil Affairs Co USAR drill team from Wooster will form an honor guard for the Mardi Gras King and Queen at the Fun Festival Saturday August 7. A 15 minute drill demonstration is planned during the parade activities. The parade begins at American Legion Hall and proceeds to the recreation grounds on Industrial Street where the festival will be held.

Mayor's Court in session as Acting Mayor handles cases

Acting Mayor Ashton Hall heard a week of Mayor's Court cases in Rittman and Wooster area towns. Defendants include Dale Bonnette fined 3.50 for intoxication and Ronald Craddock 9.50 for crossing a yellow line. Multiple fines and jail days were imposed for intoxication fighting resisting arrest and related offenses involving Albert Christian Edward Rowe and others.

Creston Man Peter Steinmetz Dies at 73

Services held in Creston for Peter Steinmetz 73 who died at Lodz Hospital after a short illness. Born in Austria Hungary in 1914 he came to America and worked 15 years as a sausage maker for Sheller Gerstenslager Meat Co. Survived by wife Anna two daughters Mrs Mary Sinnett Seville and Mrs Katherine Kirkpatrick Creston a son Jack Wooster ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren a brother a daughter Elizabeth and a grandson. Burial in Maple Mound Cemetery.
