The Press rejects blame for the infant week uproar and urges parents and pupils to support the schools through the term. Supt Gabler says he will not lead the schools next year and may seek a supervising post elsewhere. Principal Clyde Tschantz also plans to leave the Rittman high school.
The Howard A Bair post of the American Legion announces Memorial Day services in the high school auditorium on Sunday afternoon May 29 with church participation and a notable out of town speaker. Veterans of Civil War Spanish American War and World War are invited to attend. A series of summer concerts and carnivals is planned for June 11 and 25 July 9 and 23 Aug 6 and 20 and Sept 3 and 17 with the Ladies Band of Barberton engaged where possible.
The formal opening and reception of the Rittman Savings Bank in its new building last Thursday ran from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Despite a rain storm crowds filled the bank as officials distributed nearly 2000 souvenirs and Shook's orchestra with Miss Heatrice Fisher entertained attendees.
The undersigned thank friends and neighbors for kindnesses during illness and the loss of a horse. Carl Pifer and family express gratitude for support and sympathy.
The Rittman Village Board of Education issues a statement defending its right to hear grievances at meetings and inviting the article’s author to attend the next high school board session on May 3. It condemns public reflections that could harm teachers, the superintendent, and the school system.
Mayor Shackleford reports to The Press that property owners can be compelled to install sanitary inside closets. The county health officer will order owners to replace outside closets, clean vaults, and connect to the sanitary sewer when reports of dirty or outside closets are received.
The village begins cleanup week on April 26 with a call for persistent effort to beautify the area. Citizens are urged to clear rubbish, tidy premises, and remove fire hazards to keep homes and streets clean and safe.
The village council passed an ordinance raising Medina Gas & Fuel Co rates to 45 cents per thousand cubic feet with a 2.5 cent readiness charge, effective until June 1924. The measure passed 6 to 1 with Chris. Schen del voting no. Referendum possible within 30 days but unlikely due to public support. council also discussed garbage collection, house numbering, and plans for a new fire engine to be demonstrated in about two weeks.
The Americanization class organized under the Sives NL BE Niles at a church held its first special gathering in the church parlors on a Wednesday evening with good attendance. The program featured national anthems and songs by multiple nationalities, led by Gov Smale and including Miss Helen Faber and others.
Ohio v Huegle ends after Judge Stark dismisses state charge of selling intoxicants in Mayor Shackleford court due to insufficient evidence lack of warrant service and transcript jurisdiction. Prosecution plans to pursue federal prohibition charges.
Wednesdag evening friends gathered at the Shook home to honor Mr and Mrs Frank Swartz with a rug and traveling bag as a token of remembrance. The couple, longtime residents, will soon move to Lewistown Pa, and the community extends best wishes.
Mr and Mrs Choos Serex are moving their household goods from their Rittman home to Monroe Michigan where Mr Serex has been employed as a factory manager since January K Current reports say the Serex residence in Rittman has been sold to John Bender and the Benders will move into their new home soon.
Mrs A J Miller extends thanks to the WCTUs the Ladies Aid and all others who sent flowers and offered sympathy during her illness.
