Lions Sweep-Fown With Broom Sale in Rittman

The Rittman Lions Club plans its second annual city wide broom sale Monday evening, April 25 at 7 p.m. at the Masonic Hall. Members in yellow vests will canvass the town to urge broom purchases, with profits supporting the Lions sight saving fund aiding local vision.

Government to Auction Willowbrook Property May 19

Federal government to dispose of the Willowbrook project buildings on North Main Street. Bids to be accepted starting April 19 with a one month filing period. Sale includes administration building left on site and attached structures not required to be removed. Daylight Saving Time Begins in Rittman and Nearby Areas

In Rittman on Sunday at 2 am clocks advance one hour. Surrounding communities switch to daylight saving time, while southern areas including Oster and Orrville stay on standard time. Schools in Rittman and Doylestown alongside Ohio Boxboard Go will observe the change. Sterling Creston and Norwayne districts remain on standard time.

Akron leader Clarence E. Motz dies at 57 after heart attack

Services were held in Akron for Clarence E. Motz a 57 year old business and political figure. He led an Akron law firm headed a savings bank chaired Summit County Child Welfare Board for 21 years and for five as chair. He published five weekly newspapers and led the Summit County Democratic party for 14 years. The Maple Heights Press and Rittman Press were mislisted in papers. he only partly owned the latter until selling to Russell W. Frey two years ago.

Robert Wheat fined 10 dollars and costs for reckless driving. Glenn Daniels fined 10 dollars and costs for intoxication and disorderly conduct. Johnny Bauman Receives First Polio Shot in Wooster

Johnny Bauman two and a half years old, son of Mr and Mrs Arthur Bauman of 127 N Second St, received the first polio vaccine in Ohio after the summer test results were announced. Dr Morris Dixon of Beeson Clinic Wooster administered the shot as part of public health and private physician vaccination efforts.

Winkler Child in Critical Condition in Akron

Five month old Ross Winkler, son of Mr and Mrs Fred Winkler Jr of Rittman R D, remains listed as critical at Akron Children’s Hospital after about ten days. Doctors treat a rare fungus infection with blood transfusions and special medicine made in New York. Earlier he was taken from Wadsworth to Akron Children’s after symptoms suggested a cancer type illness. An older brother Ed Die, 24, is at home. Another child Frederick was fatally injured two years ago in a farm accident when he fell from a wagon and was run over by a wheel.

Form Corporation To Purchase and Run Orrville Plant

The building and real estate of American Cast Products in Orrville are being sold to a new corporation named Ohio Products Company. The Ohio Injector Company of Wadsworth will own the subsidiary, with Orrville to operate initially as a scruing plant, expanding later. About ten forging division personnel will move to Orrville, with more from the area considered for future positions.

Legion Sponsors Country Style Variety Show in Marshallville

Students and Rotarians Celebrate Annual Banquet Success

Francine Thompson and Ray Hatten were named Queen and King of the Junior-Senior Banquet at the Firestone Country Club. Miss Irma Maine Jr class president and Jim Frye served as hosts for the crowning ceremony. Irmin Maine and Virginia Wenger led the welcome and French-touched response, with remarks by Sylvan Wiles and W H Hauenstein and special Melodians performances reflecting the Paris theme.
