Purification Efforts Cost Over a Million at Local Plant
The Packaging Corporation of America and Ohio Boxboard Company have spent about 1.176 million to purify lagoon water discharges from a 500 acre site. Since 19, about 200k has been spent, with 70k in 1960 and 81k in 1961. Two major changes underway include three pumps circulating water at 3000 cfm to add oxygen and two aerators treating 15 percent of mill discharge, plus internal changes to cut waste fiber entering the lagoons. Up to 500k more may be allocated before completion.

Nita Haley Rittman Child Dies After Fall In Akron Hospital
Funeral services are set for Nita Marie Haley two year old daughter of John Haley Jr and Merrial Helms Haley at Gillman Haines Funeral Home in Rittman. Burial will follow in Rittman Cemetery with viewing after 7 p m Friday. Nita was born September 21 1960 in Rittman and died Wednesday night at Akron Children s Hospital from injuries from a fall at her Hickin Avenue home. She is survived by two sisters Pamela paternal grandparents John Haley Sr of Columbus and Henry Helms of Rittman and maternal grandparents Henry Helms of Rittman.
