The B Mobile Unit will be at the City Hall Building from 9 to 11 am and 12 to 2 pm on Thursday April 20 offering free X rays to anyone over 15. Early tuberculosis detection via X rays can lead to timely treatment before the disease progresses. Husky and frail residents are urged to take advantage of this mobile service to improve early diagnosis.
The Rittman High School Band will hold a Spring Concert Friday April 21 at 8 00 pm in the High School Auditorium. Pieces include Semper Fidelis Skip to My Lou South of the Rio Knightsbridge March Horizon Overture and Three Bears Noveltee. Proceeds aid the band uniform fund and new uniforms for next fall. Tickets available from any band member.
Millard Watts and Bittman of Millard Watts arrested for dis orderly conduct with fines totaling 1000 and costs. Lloyd Braden of Wooster charged with driving while intoxicated with 7500 and costs. Gene Maine cited for stop sign violation with 5 and costs. Homer Underwood fined 2500 with 1500 suspended. Arnold Shook stop sign with 500 and costs suspended.
Official notice declares the refuse dump for the village of Rittman will be located on E Ohio 4 near the Heffelman property. The S Main street site is closed. All dogs must be kept on the owner's property or face a 50 dollar fine. Chief Charles Heffelman and Mayor Lewis Hoover issue the order.
Two new staff members join Hile Money Sales in the past week EC Burket becomes service mechanic and L L Stoolmiller is hired as salesman Burket formerly ran his own repair shop invites all Old ST Oa to visit promising personal attention to problems Stodler previously at Rich Motor Inc joins Hile after securing Studebaker dealership.
Mayor Hoover and councilmen acted to move the city dump back to its former site after residents complained of smoke from the Main Street location. The dump, closed recently as an eyesore, may be screened from the highway with fir trees as a proposed remedy.
Mrs Willam Harman at 52 Salt Street has purchased the South End Restaurant from Mr and Mrs Virgil Burnette and took possession April 3. The business remains open during remodeling and will feature $100 chicken dinners alongside regular meals.
Local birth notices list new arrivals including Mond Lee from Creston born April 2 to Mr and Mrs C Sixx. April Son born to Mr and Mrs Robert Schmidt in Smithville. a daughter to Mr and Mrs Darnel Carter Seville on April 12. Additional births include a son to Mr and Mrs Darael Carter.
Mrs Anna Norton leading a group of festival pupils to Ashland College Chapel for a Saturday program. A meeting of parents and teachers will be held in the High School Library on Monday April 1 at 730 pm. The gathering aims to gauge interest in forming a PTA or similar group to strengthen home school ties. Attendance of all interested is requested.
Two alarms Tuesday were false at the Ohio Boxboard Co in the morning and a small fire from a short circuit occurred at the Lindsey Adkins residence in Willow Brook in the afternoon.
The Suggestion Committee at Ohio Boxboard Company awarded a total of 55 dollars to four employees for noteworthy ideas. Joe Haldiman received 25 dollars, while Paul Klepper William Bordacs and Richard Rupp each won 10 dollars.
All persons responsible for flowers vases and ornaments on cemetery lots are asked to remove them before April 22. If not removed by that date they will be removed by the Cemetery Board.

The 1950 Gasco Food Institute will be staged in Rittman on Monday and Tuesday May 8 and 9 at the High School Auditorium. The White Fuel Gas Co and local merchants organized the event with free admission and daily prizes. Miss Harriett Wolfe will demonstrate about 35 recipes, with Jack Fifer as institute manager and Lois Dunkel and D Potts assisting.
Walter Moore son of Mr and Mrs E L Moore of 10 W Ohio Ave has been named in the winter quarter list of freshmen honor students at State College of Engineering. The honor requires an average grade of B or better.
A nostalgic note about a song. The town plans a free X ray clinic next Tuesday to Thursday for residents over 15. National Recreation Association provides master plans for a new area east of Rittman. Uncle Goliad comments on local issues and a planned cooking school arrives May 8 and 9. Council discusses State Street sewer cleaning with a remark that sewer water is clear enough to drink.
