High Point County Fair Promises Bigger Event Next Year

Tires Stolen From Ford Car At West High Point

Weekend thefts report two rear tires with inner tubes taken from Jake L Newton’s Ford in West High Point while he was at his store. Separately M A Kellam, book keeper in the city manager’s office, died Monday night of ty id fever after a two week illness. Kellam formerly ran Peerless foundry and machine works, lived in Greensboro, and left surviving several siblings including C E Kellam of Biscoe. Funeral at South Main M E church with Masons and fraternal orders in attendance. Interment followed in town.

Governor Thwarts Raleigh Mob At Capitol Jail

In Raleigh early Friday Governor Bickett intervened as a mob surrounded the jail demanding a Black suspect. He pled for dispersal and threatened an extra-session court. After several shots the mob dispersed, and Neville, accused of breaking and harming a woman, was safe from mob violence.
