J J Welch longtime High Point resident and Confederate veteran dies at 75 after two weeks of illness. He directed Commercial National Bank and High Point Savings Bank and Trust Co and helped run Welch Furniture Co. He served as Rankin Coffin vice president Pickett Cotton Mills and Marsh Furniture Co. honored by M P church trustees and Confederate veterans at funeral.

Aged bylines report three thefts in Harris Tailoring Co Mechanicsville Supply Co and Peerless Machine Works with entries of tools and money totaling about 100 dollars. A separate Thomasville burglary saw suits hats and shoes stolen valued around 700 dollars and a bloodhound tracked briefly before the scent was lost.

Made in America Screening Ordinance in High Point 1911

The city ordinance prohibits sale of many foods within High Point or within a mile unless screened or protected to prevent contact with insects. It lists items required to be screened and those exempt. Violations incur a five dollar fine per offense upon conviction.

Mrs Dan Underwood was in a sitting room with a child when the youngster toppled a shot gun. The gun discharged, injuring her calf as doctors said the entire leg muscle was torn off. Though initial fears were dire, her condition improved and she was reported as getting along nicely at home.

Benson Parker a 84 year old resident of Trinity Randolph county died Sunday night after a year long illness. Funeral services were held at Trinity Tuesday afternoon. He was a man known and loved by all in his section.

A flag was presented to High Point Council 430 by Paul Jones and accepted by Rev D R Williams. Judge N L Enre spoke at the Children's Home and A G Dixon led a Bible presentation accepted by Paul Jones and H A Garrett. The gathering was described as patriotic and God fearing.
