Mr Harvey Holleman a native of this state and former mayor of San Diego and ambassador to Europe on the Panama Canal will speak on Echoes from the War Zone at the Auditorium tomorrow night. Admission free. Stereoptican slides accompany the talk.
The North Carolina State Fair in Raleigh in October 1934 emphasizes clean shows and bans on gambling and dancing girls. Exhibits up, especially apples, with premiums for rural school exhibits. Notable acts include DeLloyd Thompson aerial feats and the Five Flying Herberts. Also notes on local events, health contests, and classifieds offering premiums and job ads.
The 8th session of the 12th district Junior O U S A M will gather in High Point October 16 and 17 for two days of speeches and flag presentations. District Deputy J W Sechrest will open the meeting at 2 30 Friday with prayers by Rev J M Hilliard.
North Carolina seeks entrants for the Better Babies contest at the Central Carolina Fair with $125 in cash and fifteen silver cups for top developmental scores. Doctors and nurses will examine babies free of charge and health lectures and exhibits aid parents, with an elimination contest planned in High Point if enough local entries appear.
