Big Debt Cleared at South Main Street Methodist Church
A Sunday gathering at South Main Street Church celebrated wiping out the long standing debt. Dr. Dred Peacock spoke on church loyalty, the pastor noted about $400 was needed, Presiding elder Rowe led the fundraising and the debt was fully raised in about an hour. The service ended with Praise God From Whom All Blessings Flow.

Mrs. Charles M. Stedman Dies in Greensboro Home
Mrs. Chas. M. Stedman wife of Congressman Stedman of the fifth district died at her Greensboro home after a long illness. She had been critically ill for days and Major Stedman was with her when she passed at 10:15. Survived by her husband and daughter Mrs. Katherine Palmer. Body to Wilmington for burial.

Pleasant Sunday in the Country Around Bowman Place
The editor and family with W L Smith and family spent a Sunday at the Bowman place near Banaja visiting relatives of Mrs Stamey and Mr Smith. They traveled by automobile covering 35 miles in under two hours. Roads to Brown Summit were excellent but entering the Reidsville Greensboro route were poor with rough sections. Rockingham County earns its name for the rocks encountered on the trip.

Rose Theater Installed Air Purifiers For Sanitary Appeal
The Rose theater now has nine 18 inch wall fans for continuous circulation and three 18 inch suction fans near the operating room to remove foul air. Two Westinghouse Oronizers guaranteed to purify air every 15 seconds were installed at a cost of 50 dollars. The Red Men of Greensboro plan a Wednesday visit to High Point by automobile.

Death of Mrs Holton in Springfield
Mrs Lena S Holton wife of Col A S Holton died Sunday at her daughter Mrs W P Welch's home on Thurston street. Born August 7 1842 she leaves seven children five sons and two daughters and a sister Miss Elizabeth Holton. Funeral was held Tuesday at 10 AM from the house with interment at Springfield Journal notes her affiliations with local churches.

Cameron Sentenced Twenty Years for Murder of Raeford Chief
John Cameron of Raeford accepted a second degree murder verdict and received a twenty year sentence with no clemency. At over forty, he is unlikely to serve full term, given life in the penitentiary.

Lightning Claims 14 Year Old Carrier Near Low Gap
Garret Low, 14, a mail carrier between Dobson and Low Gap, was killed by lightning while riding his mule in extreme western county near his home. His burial followed at Low Gap, and he was described as a fine young fellow, son of J. W. Low.

Death of Henry M Flagler in Florida
Henry M Flagler aged 83 prominent capitalist and railroad magnate died at his winter home in West Palm Beach Florida after a weeks long illness. He collapsed in his home and his advanced age made recovery unlikely. Seeley Davenport and Jacob Dunn wood choppers from Wharton New Jersey were convicted by a federal jury of sending threatening letters to President elect Woodrow Wilson. The letters demanded money sums of 1000 and 5000 under death penalty and were received by Wilsons secretary Joseph P Tumulty in May and November last year.
