John Bennett, 4 son of Mr and Mrs John C Bennett of Pleasant Garden, was killed early Saturday at Ivanhoe on the Atlantic Coast Line. A brakeman on a freight train, he was struck by a water tank crane, knocked from the car, and suffered extensive injuries including the loss of his right arm and multiple fractures.

At the April 30 1914 meeting of High Point Lodge No 1155 B P O E resolutions expressed deep condolence for the death of Dr J R Reitzel. The lodge mourns a faithful member and extends sympathy to his family, requesting publication in the lodge records and city papers and a copy sent to the family.
