Reverend McFarland returned Wednesday morning from Mt. Airy where he conducted revival services at the Friends church. He reports much interest and describes the meeting as successful in many ways.
Sweet potato slips Nancy Hall and Wheeler varieties offered by Moffit's Farm. Plants and slips delivered from Moffit's store. Mr J H Barker, candidate for county treasurer, visited The Review office on Wednesday.
Herbert L. Austin of High Point shot himself at his grandmother Mrs. Noah Townsend’s Hildebran home Monday about 11 am. He 26, had recently married, had worked as assistant cashier at Wachovia Bank and Trust and led the Piedmont Organ Company and Austin Music House. He left a legacy of letters denying dishonesty and detailing a $9,000 life policy. funeral attended by many from High Point.
Saturday afternoon Elk Club members meet Manufacturer's Club players for a friendly ball game at North Main Street Park. All invited to attend the neighborhood event.
The Woodmen of the World honor late Sovereign J R Reitzel who died at High Point North Carolina on April 17 1914. Resolutions express humble submission to the divine will, offer sympathy to his widow, request prayer for comfort, drape the charter for thirty days, and authorize copies to local papers the official Woodmen organ and the family. Dr. Hopkins, called a hero by Mrs. Hi Miss Cora Galliher, died by self inflicted gunshot in Danville Virginia Monday night. The affair drew wide interest as Hopkins, a former postal operator and hospital patient in Richmond, had been improving on his return home before his death.
Peoples' Motor Co. plans to build a two story garage on Washington Street ready for occupancy by July 1. The firm has taken the agency for Haynes and is conducting outside business even before completion.
The Chautauqua will be held here the first week in July with the committee preparing ticket sales in a few days. Organizers expect the event to draw the largest crowd yet and the best Chautauqua in town.
The Selz Royal Blue store has moved across the street on South Main and invites friends and customers to visit the new location to see their offerings.
The spring city cleanup, ongoing for two weeks, finished last Saturday with over a hundred large two-horse wagon loads of rubbish removed. Sanitation officers Wood and Evans report daily to Mayor Tate and City Physician Stanton, and the administration aims to keep High Point first in state health.

Miss Belva Kaney, walking home from school near Lexington road, was attacked by a Black youth named Henry Hoover. The assailant fled after her screams as angry residents scoured the woods. A Black youth was briefly held as an alibi false, then released before officers captured the suspect with bloodhounds from High Point proving tracking.
The dedication sermon for the First Reformed Church at West Russell and South Main was delivered Sunday morning by Dr. Charles E. Schaeffer, general superintendent of the board of home missions of the Reformed Church in the United States. Rev. L. A. Peeler serves as pastor.
Miss Engle spoke at the high school debating hall on equal suffrage. Her facts figures and pleasing personality impressed a small select audience.

Jonas Oglesby the Wake county wife murderer convicted to twenty years in state prison has escaped a Randolph county railroad camp. Two other escapes reported John Wiley from Durham county larceny and Henry Abell from Beaufort county three years. Abell previously escaped from the state farm. The Southern Veneer Company of Louisville Kentucky plans to open a High Point branch to better serve customers. George F Kretchmer & Son, major owners of the Louisville plant, visited High Point to finalize the decision after thorough deliberation.
Mr and Mrs A H Sisson report their son Donald recovering from bronchitis. Gilbert White leads asphalt paving on North Main and nearby streets at about 40000 sq yd costing roughly 60000 dollars. Spring city cleanup finished last Saturday with over 200 wagon loads of rubbish removed. About 500 men will miss November votes for poll tax in High Point township.
