Drowning of High Pointer Gilmer Stroud Reported
The 17 year old Gilmer Stroud of High Point and son of Mr and Mrs Smith Stroud was reported drowned in a small boat near the cargo steamer Lake Eliko. The Lake Eliko sailed from Fowey England March 4 for Boston with clay cargo.

In municipal court on Monday morning Sails Ferguson and C L Fogle, white men, were tried for affray. Fosseman was found not guilty. Kirkman fined Ferguson 315 and costs. Lamet case dismissed. Hayes and Bryant, both Negro, fined 5 dollars plus costs for disorderly conduct. Robbins, Negro, not guilty. Watson, Negro, not guilty of shooting a bird within city limits. Craven pled guilty to leaving a truck on streets overnight, costs taxed. Samuel Shelton non-suited on obstructing 2 fire trucks.

John C. Swaim Dies After Long Illness at 60
John C. Swaim, prominent farmer, died Friday at his home one mile south of Archdale after a long illness from Brights disease. He was 60 and survived by his widow and two sons L. M. and R. E. Swaim. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at Springfield church at 8 o clock conducted by Rev. Dugan Cox.

Mrs. Eliza Gordon Dies at 79
Mrs. Eliza Gordon aged 79 died Thursday night at her home near High Point from pneumonia following influenza. She had lived in the county for many years and was held in high esteem. The funeral was held Saturday afternoon at 2 30 at Henderson cemetery.
