Mary Annis Younts won first in the essay contest, with Willie Rabinowitz taking a debating medal. several other students earned medals for essays, oratory, sewing, manual training, and academics from various donors.

The Unite Evangelical Lutheran synod of North Carolina and Tennessee will convene in Burlington on June at 8 p.m. to finalize its separate existence after the Salisbury formation. Rev J L Morgan D D founded the local church and became president of the new body. Lenoir College recently awarded him a divinity degree.
