Pauline Davis of Walvis daughter of J Ed Davis died Friday night at 12 30 at home No 6 Smith Street She is survived by her father stepmother one brother O Fletcher Davis of Newport news and two sisters Mrs Cornelia Bennett and Miss Iola Davie of High Point A brief funeral service led by Rev J H Moton was held Sunday morning at home at 9 30 The funeral party proceeded to Giles chapel Randolph County for the service led by Rev Charles Riddick
Elm Street School pupils raised 151.38 dollars by selling tickets to an art exhibit held last week. Principal C A Smith announced the sum will fund purchases of pictures for the school and praised the exhibit as better than many larger districts. Prizes will be awarded to winning grades next Tuesday during a presentation by W M Marr, city schools superintendent. Patrons are invited to attend.

Arthur Brown, a local contractor, received the contract to build the Old Hickory club clubhouse two miles from Jamestown on Guilford College road. The 11 room stone and log house will feature hardwood floors, running water, electric lights, and modern amenities. Estimated cost about 15000, offset by club furnishing timbers and lumber. High Point professionals and businessmen are stockholders. the club was recently chartered.
