Washington January 21 The time honored inaugural ball is not to be held this year honoring the presidential inauguration as the inaugural committee by unanimous vote eliminates it. The committee says a public reception would be a governmental function and not within its jurisdiction but will cooperate with other arrangements for the inauguration. Members of the joint congressional inaugural committee are Crane Macon Overman McKinley Rucker Garrett. Crane declined to comment pending official action. McKinley favored the proposed reception.

Representative Gold Seeks Aycock County Formation Seat at High Point
Monday Representative Thos J. Gold introduced a bill to grant Aycock County with High Point named as the county seat. Highland Cotton Mills Organized With $250000 Capital
A new mill with 12 000 spindles is formed in Highland. Officers include J H Adams as general manager and president, J H Millis as vice president and director, J Ed Millis as treasurer, and F Hunsucker as secretary. Plant plans call for a 390 by 125 foot brick reinforced concrete structure with warehouses. Excavation is underway and building will start by March with completion aimed for July to begin operations.

Rewards Offered for Surry Outlaws
United States marshal posts rewards of 200 dollars each for Frank Brooks G EK Todd and A M Todd among the suspects who ambushed Deputy Harkrader and Sheriff Davis in Surry County. Circulars with pictures and full descriptions will be mailed locally. The trio reportedly beat the officers, released a prisoner, and left them handcuffed by the roadside. Despite pursuit by deputies and soldiers, the band eluded capture. a renewed search is planned. Deputy Harkrader is recovering, though mauling marks remain. Sheriff Davis has a missing tooth from the incident.

Fire destroys home on Centennial Street this morning
