The newspaper urges vigilance as a pony contest enters a new two week voting period ending August 19 with a 20 percent bonus on votes. Twelve children compete for the prize with one girl and one boy emerging as leaders. readers are told to vote early and keep up the effort before counting ends next month.
This afternoon from 4 to 6 o clock Miss Evgeni Sacrenty and Mr Tor Gianulis will wed by a Greek registrar from Norfolk at St Marys church corner College and West Washington streets. The bride is Nick Sacrenty’s sister and Pete Antonakos’s cousin, with many invited to witness the ceremony.
The Review will publish weekly installments of Tom Dixon's Leopard Spots starting next week with the opening chapter on October 25. The book, selling over 500,000 copies and describing white and black race relations, is praised as a historical romance and defense of a patient people.

Citizens meet at the Manufacturers Club to plan a August 30 celebration marking the completion of the Coler road from High Rock to High Point. Bird S. Coler attends, with Mayor Fred N. Tate praising the project and committees named for finance arrangements and overall planning.
Walter Stout a Funeral Benefit Association collector was arrested by Chief Ridge on Monday for being drunk. In a struggle at Hedrick's old stand Stout suffered a broken left fourth finger and other injuries. the chief said Stout kicked and pummeled him, forcing use of restraint including grabbing hair to subdue him.
A knitting mill with daily capacity of 1000 dozen hose will be built on the lot next to High Point Normal and Industrial School by High Point Hosiery Mills and will operate with colored labor. The plant is set to begin operations September 15.

John Bennett eleven year old son of J T Bennett was struck by a delivery auto on South Main at Main street crossing. The right front wheel ran over him and dragged him 70 feet. Driver Styres inexperienced and panicked. Bennett injured but not fatally. Reninger and Styres jailed on $5 000 bond awaiting preliminary hearing.
C E Ellison buys the Royal Theater on North Main and plans to continue operations with only the best films. The Rose theater is cited for its quality pictures and service as Ellison applies his theater experience to a hoped for success.
The 216th Yearly Meeting of the North Carolina Friends convenes at Guilford College with delegates arriving through Sunday. Notable visitors include Dr. Rufus White of Clemmons College and his daughter Miss Cora White, and Dr. J J Hall director of the American Peace Society for the South Atlantic States who will lecture on The Great Peace Movement of the World.
The Greensboro region article profiles W A Jones 77 a native North Carolinian who served through the Civil War and fought with the First North Carolina regiment at Gettysburg. He describes encounters with Stonewall Jackson Appomattox and a close call with Captain Milliary amid a patchwork of memories from battles, hunger and escapes.

Jim McClure, charged with killing Deputy Sheriff Robin L. Bain at Pomona last Saturday, surrendered to Sheriff Stafford near Kernersville after a long chase by Guilford County officers. The captured man faced likely punishment, and Bain’s funeral drew a large crowd at Greene Hill cemetery. Governor Craig denied a pardon amid recent editorial debate.
