Grade Crossings Law Requires Flagmen at Crossings
City commissioners advance an ordinance to prevent collisions by requiring flagmen with a daytime flag or night lantern before moving trains or cars across grade crossings. Franklin D. Blake Dies Suddenly at 52
Franklin D. Blake died of a stroke Thursday afternoon and funeral services were held Sunday at his home. Survived by his widow, a son in High Point, two daughters in Greensboro and Amesbury, Mass., and a sister in Springfield, Mass. Born August 30, 1865 in Salisbury, he founded the North Carolina Wheel Co. in High Point and served as secretary and treasurer. He belonged to Masons, Elks, Redmen, Odd Fellows, Workmen, and Oasis Shrine. Burial at Oakwood Cemetery with Masonic rites.
