Friday night Karl Germain and company present for the Lyceum course at the auditorium. Germain is hailed as a wizard of the age in this sixth attraction, a must see event for patrons.
English who killed Jack Armstrong was committed to jail without bail to await the July term of court. Lawyer Spence waived examination. Sunday, April 20 a 10 day series of meetings will begin at Washington Street M E Church with Rev. J E Abernathy assisting Pastor Earnhardt in services.
A general meeting of committees for the Southern Furniture Exposition urged city citizens to attend. The first furniture exposition runs June 23 to July 12 with 30,000 feet of floor space in multiple venues including the Goldstein and Isaacson building and Pickett Warehouse.
Dr J W Long and Pearl Sherrod were in a Cadillac wreck seven miles from High Point road yesterday. Sherrod, a Black chauffeur, suffered painful injuries and was unconscious for over an hour while Dr Long escaped without physical harm and continued to Thomasville to answer a surgical call.
Mr. W T Rankin died at his daughter Mrs W L Smiths home on Pine Street after long illness. He was 69 and a longtime High Point resident and merchant. Survived by five children including Mrs Smith Miss Lillie Rankin and Chas Rankin. Funeral held at home at 3 pm conducted by Rev J M Milliard. he was a Presbyterian church member.

W. H. Tucker, a 35 year old white painter, was shot from ambush at East Market and Percy street around 10:30 last night. Three men, two black and one white, were seen fleeing, but no witnesses could identify them. a single shot struck Tucker in the left temple as he faced the city.
