The Elks lodge presents a big minstrel show in High Point next week with Mr. and Mrs W. R. Pattie in charge. Tickets go on sale Saturday at Mannan's. The booster edition of 5,000 copies will be issued this week. Also, Pythians plan to assemble here on the 22nd with Grand Chancellor Pridgen and other notables visiting Greensboro.
Mayor F N Tate issues a city wide Clean-up Day schedule. April 13 14 15 16 17 18 listed with free pick up of rubbish. Hog pen law will be strictly enforced. Citizens urged to cooperate to make High Point the City Beautiful.
Mr. and Mrs. Dennis H Hall announce the marriage of their daughter Bertie Rae to Mr. Homer E Montsinger on Tuesday April 7 1914 in High Point North Carolina. Both parties are well and favorably known.
While working Monday on the Continental extension for W B Smith contractor Joseph J Johnson was observed to fall forward by fellow workmen who rushed to him and found him dead. A physician arrived too late. Johnson lived at 103 S Main Street and left a wife and several children.

Southern Railway could cost about one hundred thousand dollars to place tracks underground to free High Point’s main thoroughfare from constant freight and passenger traffic. President Fairfax Harrison pledged the plan would be considered, envisioning an underground station with convenient access despite lowering tracks for about three quarters of a mile. A. F. Stewart of Caldwell County was arrested and jailed in default of bond on a bigamy charge. He allegedly married Miss Sudderth in South Carolina about four years ago and lived with her, while a first wife from High Point claims they wed in October 1895 and separated after he vanished, prompting a formal hearing last Wednesday.
