Charles E. Sheloff to establish the Sheloff Chair Company in High Point. The two story plant, 108 feet long, will be built in the western Markley Grove area to produce chairs for the city. A chamber delegation promotes the venture to attract buyers to the Richmond market.
Deputy Sister John S. Pickett announces a 10 day extension for tangible and intangible property tax filings in High Point township. A crowd gathered last days of March at the window seeking to meet the formal deadline and ensure fair participation in the revaluation process.
Frank Yates of Denton and James Parrish of Fullers were struck by No. 137 while attempting a crossing at Thomasville yesterday morning and were seriously but not fatally wounded before being taken to the hospital. Geo F. Stanton, mother of Mayor D A Stanton, died Wednesday at Level Cross.
A hard surfaced road will be constructed to the Randolph county line, extending access and improving transportation links. The project aims to enhance safety and travel efficiency along the corridor.
Hundreds attend the 2500000 structure opening in Greensboro as the Guilford county courthouse doors swing wide at 2 o clock. Speeches feature J Elwood Gox and Fred N Fate with A M Seales delivering the principal address. Architect Harry Barton of Greensboro designed the plans and W P Rose of Goldsboro built the furniture expo building now under construction.
Randolph County gains a modern hospital as Memorial Hospital in Asheboro begins admitting patients. Drs Hayworth organized the facility with Miss Freeman as superintendent bringing experienced leadership and modern equipment for county residents. The formal opening will be announced later.
An interesting contest at Salisbury Friday afternoon ended in a tie between High Point and Salisbury High Schools. The standout pitching by High Point’s hurler limited Salisbury to few clean hits, while Jackson for Salisbury also pitched splendidly limiting scoring opportunities.

The committee included Jy Elwood Cox, Fred N. Tates, W. C. Idol, Frank Wineskie and G W Clark. Bivens, UNC graduate, has been a teacher and public affairs participant. The chamber plans a tobacco market with two warehouses eyed for opening next fall and aims to attract top buyers from major tobacco firms.
Char lotte poet Mrs C H Bass arrive in High Point with Mr and Mrs W D Burss for Easter. Miss Ada Garland returns to Roanoke with Miss Edith Anthony who plans a Norfolk visit. Mrs Joseph T Weaver and children head to Norfolk to stay with relatives. M C Crowson and H A Millis visit Thomasville for business. Mrs Frank Wineskie and daughter Thelma return from Nashville where Adele Wineskie recovers well after a serious operation.

Miss Iola Marshall of Goldsboro arrives in High Point to spend holidays with her mother Mrs. R. K. Marshall on Russell Street. Miss Ethel Mitchell and R. F. Wagner of this city wed quietly Wednesday evening by Rev. J. W. Rose at 105 Myrtle Street with only relatives present. They will reside in High Point.
Early Sunday morning suspects entered the A. Robertsoni store on East Greene Street and carried off a small 300 pound safe. The safe was later recovered in nearby woods with its bottom cut open. About one hundred dollars was missing. Liberty bonds and war stamps valued at 1000 dollars were scattered on the ground.
The community welcomes back Earl and Annie Johnson of Thomasville now in Trinity. Mrs. Johnson was born Annie Tindale of Philadelphia. Jim White works in High Point. Telephones installed at Trinity Route 1 homes of J F Church and John F Hill. Several locals recover from illness including Lena Church Vannie Hill and Lee Hill. Local tale notes Mr Hill baked a cake that friends praised as splendid.
Jackson Mississippi April 3 Senator John Sharp Williams asserts that opponents of the peace treaty aimed to protract Wilson’s illness and bring about his death. He calls the era a time of conspiracy that defeated the League of Nations in the Senate and blames “cheap” politicians.
H G Barnes is spending several weeks in Asheville taking a rest cure at Ottari Sanatorium. Little Miss Jarrellyn Dyer is recovering after a throat operation. Mrs J E Kidd is seriously ill with pneumonia at her mother’s home on Dewey Street.
The Guilford county Democratic convention in Greensboro marks the first participation of women, endorses woman suffrage, and names delegates to the State convention in Raleigh. A. L. Brooks chosen permanent chairman and announces candidacy for Senate against Overman. The Wilson administration tax revision and road projects receive endorsement. Several local residents attend Moravian exercises and Easter travel plans noted.
Mary A. Clodfelter reports Charlie Ebert sold ten acres in one acre lots at $1 000 each. The piece is on the road where Mrs Alf and others visited. Rain delays farming and road upkeep. D E Clodfelter struggles to scrape four miles for low pay despite three horses. Easter services at Friedland Moravian Church and Piedmont Liberty school closes May 17.

Corporal B A Richards, now assigned to High Point, reports several youths enlisted this week with more expected. Roscoe Jarrett has been sent to Camp Zachary Taylor Kentucky for training while James Bratton and G Jameson go to Greensboro for examinations. Richards, a former France veteran and Pershing aide, plans to stay in High Point to continue recruiting.
Robbers broke two front windows of the High Point steam laundry at 208 Washington street Wednesday night and stole several suits and other apparel valued at about 150 dollars. Most items belonged to customers, laundry work already completed for return next day. Police suspect a continuing gang behind recent break ins across the city.
