Red Hook weather relief and flood scenes after storm Irene
After Irene skirted the area Red Hook faced heavy rain and basement floods. NYCHA sent buses to Red Hook Houses for shelters, with few residents taking the offer. Water backed up in sewers, flooding at Cruise Terminal and Van Brunt Bowne, plus a Fairway area flood. By Sunday crowds moved about, waters receded by Monday.
