Red Hook relief efforts mobilize volunteers and National Guard
Led by the Red Hook Initiative volunteers and ad hoc groups distributed large donations of food and medicine to residents trapped in the Red Hook Houses. The National Guard provided rations and water as heaters failed. Meetings at the flagpole and Visitation Church planned relief strategies with NYCHA issues addressed. Politicians Nydia Velazquez Sara Gonzalez and Velma were involved.
