Brother Melo basketball helps youth through literacy program
Karl Sanders, Red Hook born teacher and coach at Grady High School, founded Brother Melo four years ago to combine sports with academics after the killing of Marquise Sanders. The six week program runs five age groups 5 to 17 and aims to lower dropouts, boost college and employment, and improve community literacy while building social capital.
