Homegrown Trumpkin Project Breeds Seasonal Oddity
BASIS school teachers Luther Berbank Ellen Yellow Hadley Ruggles and Saara Nafici lead eighth graders in a cross discipline project to grow Trumpkin pumpkins by grafting corn silk with stem curvature using gene splicing at Genspace. They harvest about 14 pumpkins from three plants and store 1400 seeds for next June.
