United States to Purchase Large Bertha Mineral Tract in Pulaski
A U.S. engineering team led by W. P. Adams completed a survey for buying about 18 828 acres in Pulaski and Bland counties for federal use. The Bertha tract runs from Big Walker mountain across Little Walker to W D Macgill's farm, with 12 000 acres owned by Paul W Hertenstein and C A Hertenstein. The government will preserve a 2 000 acre virgin timber section and keep land for young timber on cut over areas.

Government to Acquire 32 823 Acres for Jefferson National Forest
The U S Department of Agriculture plans to take title to 32 823 acres in Pulaski and Bland counties for the Jefferson National Forest at about 126 676 dollars. Bertha Mineral Co will sell 15 538 acres in Pulaski, retaining mineral rights. A 2 490 acre tract owned mostly by Judge John S Draper and Mrs. Joe Graham of Draper will be bought. Draper calls the purchase a boon for local timber and wildlife. Joe L Wysor is selling 600 800 acres adjoining the Draper tract with mineral rights held by J Frank Wysor and to be retained by the official.
