Insanity Case in Pana Woman Tormented by Death Vision
The strangest case of insanity in this section centers on Mrs. Catharine Miles, wife of farmer William Miles of Greenwood township. After trial she was ordered to the asylum. She believes she is dead and in torment, shrieking with pain. Eyewitnesses cannot bear to witness her apparent torment. A few nights prior, her husband was nearly burned when she, in a fit, dragged him from bed and flipped a lamp onto him, though flames were smothered. Also reported, Ambrose West and wife suffocated by coal gas in Germantown, Philadelphia.
