Progress and Politics in a Small Town Letter Column

A fragmentary column mixes local gossip and political notes. It mentions curious rumors about congressmen, praise for Mayor McKellar, upcoming elections, tax debtors, suffragists, and a hint of a new jail. It advertises notarial work, a prospective hotel, and community pride alongside editor’s quips in a rural period style.

Teachers Meeting at Parish High School

Last Friday the Parish Teachers Association held a regular meeting at the High School building. The gathering was instructive and enjoyable with social features. Important discussions on grave matters and intellectual progress flowed as teachers shared valuable thoughts and information, followed by a handsome spread and a royal good time. Our editor gratefully acknowledges the occasion.
