Encampment Highlights and Governor's Day in Shreveport

The First Regiment of Louisiana National Guards camped in Shreveport with nine infantry companies and two artillery units. A flag presentation at Mrs Blanchard's home marked the event, while Governor Foster’s visit drew tepid public reaction and criticism over salutes. A staged sham battle pleased veterans, featuring regimental units including Ouachita Guards Natchitoches Guards and Pelican Rifles in scripted combat and a dramatic display of flags and artillery.
