Thieves targeted R A Babcock's Hupmobile wrecking the battery and stealing a motometer and briefcase. They also tried Emil Cords Chevrolet and Wm Helsing's Chevrolet but failed to start any vehicle. The burglars took fishing tackle from Cords and damaged Helsing's garage lock, leaving three cars untouched.

A 70 year old farmer Adolph Schubarth was killed when struck by a car near Sidney while helping his son with a tractor. The Bartlett vehicle failed to stop after being blinded by oncoming headlights, leading to a fatal impact. Judge Reese elected head of Grand Army of the Republic
Judge John Reese of Broken Bow Nebraska was elected commander in chief of the Grand Army of the Republic at its national encampment in Denver. Obituary of Gustav A. Schubarth in Nebraska area
Funeral services were held for Gustav Adolph Schubarth from the Herman Schubarth home and St. Pauls Lutheran church near Potter. Rev. J. H. Hinck officiated. Interment followed in the church cemetery with a large crowd from country and town attending. The obituary recalls his standing as the oldest member of the congregation and notes he was accidentally killed on a public highway near Sidney Nebraska.
