A light frost dulled in the valley Monday with no damage. Hills and tables saw Nile frost, while corn is dented and hardening. Warmer days followed as farmers rush to harvest crops and plant winter grains amid dry fall weather.
Roy Butler grand master of Nebraska attended a well attended meeting of Potter lodge I O O F Monday evening. Five lodges were represented with delegations from D.x and Sidney. Butler led a school of instruction and conferred the past grand degree on mine past grands. A lunch followed the gathering.
Knowledge Factory Notes highlights happenings in public schools appearing in its initial issue. Space devoted weekly to news items supplied by the school edited by Miss MecLaughlin and the students.
District Judge J. J. Tewell of Sidney gave the day’s address at the Constitution program held at the schoolhouse last Friday afternoon. The talk inspired and enlightened a large audience, sponsored by the Legion and the school in observance of National Constitution Week. Myr and Mrs Harry Erickson and son of Boelus Nebr were visiting friends in Potter Monday. Mrs Henry Kaune returned from Denver Saturday after visiting her daughter Mrs Valera Schwartz. Artie Kaune remains in Denver for medical treatment.
Community members look forward to the Dalton Fall Festival next Thursday and Friday September 29 and 30 with entry day on Thursday and the big day Friday. The sister town is noted for its strong civic spirit and merchant participation, inviting visitors to an enjoyable day early Friday.
Miss Audrey Nelson daughter of Mr and Mrs Andrew Nelson of Potter married Leo Lipski son of Mrs Pearl Lipski at the Methodist parsonage last Saturday September 17 Rev C R Tanner officiated Attendants were Mr Joey Stecher Lipski recently completed Navy enlistment Both parties well known and favored with best wishes for a happy married life.
Pastor C R Tanner invites all to Sunday worship at 11 with church school at 10 and an all church basket dinner after the service. Plans for the future will be discussed. No 7:30 service due to the dinner and meeting. Epworth League at 6 45.
Nyda Schwasnick became the bride of Roland Biggs at the Schwasnick home in Sidney on Sunday afternoon September 18. Rev. J. J. Sheaff officiated with both families present. The couple’s outfits featured teal blue crepe and a brown travel suit. A dinner followed with family and friends, and the newlyweds planned to reside at the Couch apartments after a Denver trip.
Dr Mabel Lott of Sidney Nebraska will introduce a Micro-Dynameter from Ellis Research Laboratories Chicago. The device offers penetrating health readings, measuring disease presence and vitality to guide treatment progress. A factory technician will assist Lott September 26 27 and 28 to train her staff. Mrs Clifford Witt is visiting relatives here this week.
Pastor W. T. Kahse invites worshippers to the Sunday school at 2 15 p m followed by worship and a sermon at 3 p m The theme will be Casting All Your Cares on God Everyone is welcome to attend and worship with us.
Mr and Mrs Ray Mathewson and Miss Fern Ferguson extend heartfelt thanks for condolences and assistance after the infant son died. Fern Ferguson left Monday for Hemingford Neb to teach rural school, accompanied by her uncle Harry Courtright.

Ed Mulligan left for Sterling on business. Ed and Goding visited Sidney with their daughter Mrs. Buettner and husband. C. R. Spencer and daughter left for a week in Neola. R. Peterjohn of North Platte greeted old friends in Dix. Oren Emmons of Salem Oregon visited his niece Mrs. Gunderson and tended the farm. Francis Willoughby and sons called in Dix. Harry Nelson and Mrs. Nelson of Big Fork Montana stayed with her parents. K. G. Walker spent the weekend in Omaha with his wife. Bob Peterson returned to hospital Tuesday and hopes for speedy recovery. Madden family returned from Diller. Gus Reisburg left for Lincoln on business.

Miss Irma Nelson visits Peetz with several Nelsons and Olsen families while many neighbors share Sunday meals and calls at Leo Olsen, L K Nelson, Willeford, and Hammond homes. Ed Nelson attends a golden anniversary. Jolly Neighbors plan a September 29 meeting and Farmers Union meet October 7.
Knowledge Factory Notes reports Potter students rallying for fall carnival the Coyote Roundup set for October 22 and 23. Staff roles editors and illustrators named, varied grade highlights include art and English class updates, spelling champions, and junior high current events notebooks.
Wim London of Downs Kansas demonstrates winter wheat farming with five caterpillar tractors handling 2800 acres. The outfit plowed 40 bottoms and covered the field six times through ground preparation planting and harvest operations.
Mrs. Lee and Mrs. Hawkins and Miss Eleanor Hawkins called on Mrs. Kenneth Wickstrom Tuesday afternoon. The ladies are the aunts and a cousin of Mrs. Wickstrom.
Nels Gunderson and Mr Gusner were business callers in Sidney on Wednesday.
S Hermansen proprietor of the Potter Garage was taken to the veterans hospital in Cheyenne Tuesday evening for stomach trouble. He went with Mrs Hermansen Dr Enevoldsen Alfred Amell and Ralph Robertson. They report seeing Cody Patterson, another patient, at the hospital.
Pleasant View social notes detail Mr and Mrs Peter Nelson and grandson Loran Smith traveling to Sterling Colorado for a doctor visit. Mildred Schuessler visits Mrs Harold Meyer. Ladies Aid meets at Mrs Hugo Haack. Local families host and visit across Potter Wayne Sterling Perry County with multiple trips by Morrow Mueller and Schuessler families.
Gus Stark of the Redington community arrived in town Wednesday with a load of watermelons. Mr. and Mrs. Warren Perry of St. Collins, Colorado, were supper guests at the Dean Hagemeister home Sunday.
Mr and Mrs Bruce Hagemeiste and their children from Angora Nebraska spent Sunday visiting relatives in town. Miss Venetta Light started duties Wednesday as a waitress at the Stines cafe.
The Busy Neighbors club will meet on Wednesday September 28 at the Melvin Meester home. Stewart Nelson is preparing to return to Boulder to resume studies at Colorado University as a senior. Mr and Mrs Lester Stecher and Mr and Mrs Joey Stecher left for Fremont on Tuesday to visit relatives for a week. Mr and Mrs Peter Hansen returned Monday evening from a two week visit in Howard and adjoining counties.
The American Legions Auxiliary held a meeting at the home of Mrs R L Mae dam on Wednesday with Miss Alice Mor row serving as joint hostess Meanwhile Mrs Bellows from Kimball visited for a few days at the home of her daughter Mrs Clarence Johnson and family
Mrs. Iva Thayer and Gene Binning left for Nelson Nebraska on Monday after being called there by the death of an uncle.
