The Woman's Club plans a bake sale and lunch at Johnson-Cords Co store on Saturday September 17 starting around 11 a m. Lunch will be served throughout the day and baked goods will remain on sale until sold out.
A Monday afternoon 2:30 surprise shower honored Miss Burnace Hadley at the Homer Light home in Potter. Mrs. Henry and Mrs. Light hosted with many beautiful gifts. Refreshments were served as guests wished the bride-to-be happiness and prosperity. The gathering was reported as a good time by all present.

Brownson notes show L J Damm and Nellie shopping in Sidney and neighbors visiting across town. Farmers Union gathering at Herdon school house included dancing and cake and coffee. Frank Matthes family enjoyed Sunday picnicking west of Brownson. Mrs R C Jackson underwent treatment in Denver hospital last week. Miss Mary Hemmer and Miss Bernadine Anderson attended the circus Tuesday evening. Harry Scott and family from Dalton visited Jno Connelly farm Sunday. Wm Meyer finished threshing for Wm McMillan and sons then moved to Sidney Draw for more work. Ben Couch putting up hay on Jordan ranch. Lewis Olson and wife dined with Art Borcher family. Editor apologizes for dull issue due to bereavement and illness, asks readers to overlook shortcomings.
Mr and Mrs John Christensen are the proud parents of a baby girl born on Thursday September 8. Both mother and child are doing nicely and healthy.
On Monday September 12 Arley Booth and Blanche Stanton joined in marriage at Sterling Colorado. Rev James Todd presided at the Presbyterian parsonage with Mrs Chas Stanton present. The bride is the Stanton daughter and recent Wallick clerk. the groom works in dairy work for Homer Light. They will reside in Potter with best wishes from the community.
The marriage of Guy B. Terman and Miss Marcia Hadley was solemnized by Rev. G. M. Henderson at the M E parsonage in Sterling on Tuesday afternoon September 6, 1927. The couple planned a mountain wedding trip before settling in Scottsbluff, with well wishes from the community.
Leonard Terry of near Sterling Colorado spent Sunday and Monday at Courtrights, extending a brief weekend trip to the area.

Irene Baker entered our grade on Wednesday bringing total enrollment to 21. Mrs. Clyde Lovell visited Monday morning. Three absences noted Monday: Keith Earl Merle. First and second grades recess together to reduce risk for younger children. Nature study focuses on winter plant prep and seed and leaf collections. Picture study covers The Boy Samuel with emphasis on title artist personal reaction and story. Seventh and eighth grades study music theory and song basics. Glee club has 36 members with first practice last Friday afternoon.
Alberta Wehenkel joins as a new pupil and Pretty the canary and a new flag are featured. Lowell Hougen turns six on Friday. The room lists 35 students this year, 18 in third grade and 17 in fourth. Visitors Mrs Smith Mrs Hougen and Mrs Hougen visited last week. A museum is planned for fourth grade geography. This week study focuses on cotton and its uses. Vivian Anderson Misses several days due to tonsil removal along with Helen and Melvin McKee.
Kenneth Wehenkel joined the fifth grade on Thursday, bringing the class to twenty. Fifth grade captains are Bernice Babcock and Stewart Welson, with both sides even. In the sixth grade Freddie Hryza and Dorothy Spencer lead, Freddie’s team two points ahead. Thomas McGowan was absent Friday afternoon. The geography class is studying A Trip to South America and climate while awaiting free geography materials. The new room flag is enjoyed by all.
Margret Van Pelt was poisoned at the creek and was absent on Monday. Agnes Sheets was absent on Monday due to illness. The 8th grade enjoys Nebraska work books. A new flag in the room adds to its appearance.
In first and second grades we reviewed familiar rate songs sung last year and developed rhythm through singing games marching clapping and running. In third through sixth grades we are stressing further rhythm and music activities.
Freshmen enroll sixteen students this year with Grace Johnson in algebra. Officers elected: Mark Roding president, Vera Tompkins vice president, Helen Tank secretary, Mable Mielke treasurer, Miss Conard sponsor. Sophomores total fifteen, with Harry and LeRoy as Latin captains. LeRoy’s side won last Friday. Europe history remains challenging. seniors’ program enjoyed.
Eugene Warner was absent Monday as juniors elect LeRoy Witt president and Joyce Schmidt secretary treasurer. Mr Fowler serves as class sponsor while English studies cover the history of English literature in a short program planned for convocation period Friday.
On Monday morning the Seniors went to school determined to earn their diplomas. In the first class meeting they elected Mrs. Johnson sponsor Minnie Wickhorst president Lucille Higgins secretary treasurer. Friday morning the Seniors entertained the high school for twenty minutes. There are fourteen in the Senior class this year.
Athletics notes coach Fowler plans to start basketball once hall use is secured on November 1. Football-play schools delay practice until December 1, giving Potter boys an extra month. Schedule announcements forthcoming after talks with neighboring coaches. Track work to run in October to ready players for basketball.
A party was given at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Johnson on Saturday the 3rd to help teachers get acquainted before school opening Monday. The evening featured games and a delicious luncheon, with all guests enjoying the gathering.
The obituary recalls Mary Margaret Parry Stevens born 1857 Ohio. She lived in Iowa Wyoming and Nebraska, married W L Stevens, and died September 9, 1927 in Potter at 69. The piece honors her faith as a Methodist and her family including four sons Howard Chas Earl Herbert. Services were held at the Potter M E church September 11 with the American Legion pallbearers and interment at Potter cemetery.
