Potter Ten Years Ago Notes and Local News

Ten years ago in Potter the Woodmen of the World discuss building a hall. Dix beat Potter 9 to 3 as pitchers for Potter were Woten and Hendrickson with Babcock catching. Dix pitcher Clausen impressed. Mrs L Jones of Sidney killed when her car was hit by a fast fruit express near Sidney. The Joneses had just sold their farm for 60,000 and planned retirement. A Potter-Redington game was disputed after Walter Muhr struck Earl Owler with a bat and Muhr faced a $2,500 bond. W L Stevens moved into a new home. barber shop moved to Ames building basement. Review office relocated. Potter’s schools open next Monday September 8, with Prof Bracken of Hastings supervising and Osborn and Durrin retained. Andrew Nelson confined by illness. Mrs Henry Kayne visiting Lodge Pole. Mrs W L Stevens rode to Pine Bluffs with the editor. Chas Strandberg to Luther College in care of the ministerial program. C W Johnson receiving fruit shipments. Potter Public Schools Open With Strong Enrollment

The Potter public schools opened Monday with enrollment at 120. The first week went smoothly and outlooks for a successful year are positive. High school enrollment rose slightly while some grades dipped, leaving total enrollment about the same as last year.

Potter Nebr Village Board Proceedings 1924 Sept 1 2

The Potter village board met September 1 and 2 1924 in the Potter State Bank office. Minutes from August meetings were read and not approved. Bills listed include salaries for H Stevens Karl Fricke and Herman Moench, various vendors and supplies. The board discussed Johnson Grove grounds and a contract with Farmers Grain Milling Co. for power heat and waste steam exhaust at 55 per month for three years. Karl Fricke named chief engineer and Herman Moench assistant at monthly salaries of 125 and 110 respectively.

Shipment of Dairy Cows in Prospect in Sidney

County Agent M N Lawretson of Lincoln extension service visited Sidney on August 22 and secured an order for ten Holstein cows from Wisconsin. With carload requirements of 24 to 26 cows, 11 to 16 more orders are needed to fill the shipment. Prices range 100 to 110 dollars per cow, with calving expected in 1 to 6 weeks. Buyers must act before September 5, as only up to sixteen orders will be accepted.

Infant Daughter of Oberndorfer Family

A baby girl born to Mr and Mrs Art Oberndorfer on Monday August 25 died shortly after birth. Funeral services were held the next day and burial followed at St Pauls Evangelical Lutheran Church cemetery Sid ney Rev Peters presiding. The family receives sympathy from many for their loss.
