The M E F Church in Potter, stalled four years, is being pushed to completion by the pastor and trustees. The current basement 30 by 50 feet will be topped with a full size frame addition, costing about 3000 dollars. A subscription has reached 1500 dollars, and local citizens are urged to support the effort.
Dr Sehleh a national lecturer and former M P bishop filled Rev Kerr's Sunday appointments at the Methodist Church. He spoke on clean living in the morning and delivered a 3 PM lecture titled Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde about sin and moral transformation. An evening sermon urged the community to oppose saloons pool halls and Sabbath breaking.
Mr and Mrs Frank Myrick host an aunt visiting this week. Friends and neighbors attend dances and box suppers at Will Talbert Hans Gunderson and other homes. Jens Petersen plans a Friday trip to Upland Nebraska. Fred Nelson ships a jar of wheat. threshing flax continues as Rev J A Kerr visits locals. Sunday school at 2 and peach event 3 to 4 next Sunday the 16th.
The 23rd turkey shoot is set for Sunday at Potter with arrangements to give everyone a fair chance. Participants are invited to enjoy the sport and win a Thanksgiving turkey.
On Tuesday afternoon at 1 30 PM November 1913 at the home of Pete Bolan in Omaha Nebraska Ray L Babcock of Potter and Olga Cords of Rockville Nebr were married by Reverend Groh. Babcock, formerly of Rockville, is a banker in Potter and enjoys wide local esteem. Cords, daughter of Emil and Mrs Cords of Rockville, has lived in Rockville six years and is highly regarded. They will reside in Potter after December 1. The Review extends congratulations.
In Garden Vale fall plowing occurs as residents help with windmill projects and horse roundup. Johannes Johnson and J L Bartholomew assisted Lee Peterson. E M Smith rounded up horses. Mrs Wm Scheele visited L R Stryker and Mrs Wm Brothers hosted relatives from Wyoming and California. A local wreck at Perochal schoolhouse prompted speculation but no injuries.
Threshing and alfalfa hulling fade as corn picking begins. Chas Stanton and family visit Will Goding’s. Nelson and George Hicks haul flux to Herdon. W.O.W. lecture drew local students to Potter. Mrs. Courtright visited Stine home. Heimer, Dyke man, Shubarth helped build a stock shed for Will Goding. Randall Barnes is carpenter. P J Dalton hauls spuds to Potter. Evan Stines delivered 210 sacks of spuds to C W Johnson. Henry Moench's family visited Fritz Retke on Bon Ton ranch. Glen Osborn works for Will Goding. Jeffries and Gale left Cheyenne county for Rochester NY. F Alden Kimball plans a new residence near Gifford Neb. Irene Lawrence advertises dress remodeling services.
H. Smith lays a cement floor in a large horse barn while Lawrence of McCook handles the job. A library will be organized at Mosier and Hope Brown schoolhouses next Saturday night. Jed Skinner had a lively runaway along the road. Forest Ridge and Mr. Owens husk corn for Vern Waitman. Oscar McConign fell ill at a Redington dance and is improving. P. P. Waitman adds a 10 by 90 foot extension to the chicken house for a store and grainery, planned later as a chicken house.
Lutheren Church holds Sunday School at 10 a.m. Catholic Church conducts services on the fourth Saturday each month at 10 a.m. Additional announcements will be made from time to time.
