Small Boy Loses Fingers From Dynamite Cap
Willard Mueller five year old son of Mr and Mrs John W Mueller of Potter lost three fingers Sunday forenoon when he struck a dynamite cap with a hammer. He was playing in the yard perhaps finding the cap and tried to pound it. The explosion was heard for blocks. Dr Ames amputated the left hand’s thumb near the first joint the forefinger at the knuckle and the little finger near the second joint. One finger was badly bruised but not amputated.

Killed 38 Rattlesnakes Near Dix Nebraska
John E. Johnson and companions killed thirty eight rattlesnakes, a blue racer, and a diamond rattler from a den in a rock cleft thirteen miles northeast of Dix. They drew the snakes from the den and shot them. Johnson planned to blast the den to finish the task and bought dynamite in town on Saturday.

Local School Performs Well in Unprepared Fire Drill

Narrow escape as horse kicks at Potter farmer
Arthur Schubarth of twelve miles northeast of Potter suffered a severe work horse attack while fitting the harness. A temple blow left him unconscious. brother Herman dragged him from danger. Dr. Ames treated a temple puncture, bruised ear and cheek, a fractured lower leg, and body bruises. Recovery will take months. Schubarth is married with two children.

Hallowe en masque ball draws large crowd and clever costumes
The American Legion Hallowe en masque ball last Saturday night drew a large crowd. Most dancers wore masks with clever costumes. Judges had a hard time selecting first prize. Epworth League social Monday night and the Woman's Club party on the same night also had good crowds and enjoyable times.

Aged Citizen Answers The Last Call
Anton Heintzelmann 89, father of Mrs Henry Kayne, died last Tuesday after a short illness. Born in Alsace Lorraine then German, now French, he spoke both languages. Survived by wife, two sons Mike and Tony, and daughter Mrs Henry Kayne. Funeral held at his Potter residence with Father Link officiating. Body to be taken to Avoca and then Nebraska City for services before burial beside his wife. Community offers sympathy.

Woman Kills Coyote With Rocks Near Colorado Home
Mrs Henry Teare of Colorado territory about twenty miles from the city fought off a vicious coyote while fleeing on an old pony with two dogs. She beat the animal to death with limestone rocks after the pony failed to outrun it, then returned home dragging the coyote and tended to a dog bitten in the encounter.
