Carter travels to Laramie on business trip
J. RC. Carter went to Laramie Wyoming on a business trip. He drove to Cheyenne but left his car there due to snow and bad roads and will retrieve it when possible. The text contains garbled fragments about a train and a mule teaching draw but is unclear.

Navy to Enlist Women for Shore Duty in Emergencies
Secretary Daniels ordered shore stations and recruiting offices to be ready to enlist women in the actual naval service in emergencies. The judge advocate general allows enlistment under recruiting laws, with shore duty in coast defense, stenographer and clerk roles, radio telegraphy, and other communication tasks. Training camps organized with navy league aid will influence recruit selection to ease manpower for fleet service.

The North Platte Valley Teachers Association meets in Sidney on March 29 and 30 with notable attendees from Washington D C rural life, Fremont schools, Chadron State Normal, and Chadron High School. A district declamatory contest runs Wednesday night through Thursday afternoon, with the program continuing Thursday evening to Friday, ending with a banquet at the Pacific House for teachers and friends of education.

Stevens Taken to General Hospital in North Platte
W L Stevens was taken to the General Hospital at North Platte Tuesday night with a complication of illnesses. He had been seriously ill for two weeks, and the move is hoped to help. He is reported somewhat better, accompanied by his wife, son Herbert, and Dr. Ames.

Town Board Votes on Water Extension
The village board says extending water service into the Seyfang addition is beyond current means. Potter valuation is about 60000 dollars with 20 percent available for water, 15 percent already used, so funding cannot be obtained. The extension would cost about 4200 dollars and could wait until next year if valuations justify it.

Village Board Meets in Regular Session Minutes
The town board met in regular session with High Woten Thornburg and Gunderson present while Johnson was out of town. Bills allowed include Thornburg 14.80 Myers 3.00 and Reddy 5.40. The water extension to the Seyfang addition would cost about 4200 but only 1940 is available, delaying the project. A storage battery system was debated but no decision made.
