California Lady Killed After Sidney County Crash
Mrs. George Beckman, 40, of Long Beach California, died instantly when her car overturned about six miles west of Sidney after skidding on wet pavement. A 14 month old baby and another woman escaped injury and were taken to a Sidney hospital. Beckman died at Rice funeral home. Drivers offered varied explanations, citing a slide into a ditch or a rollover while the road remained slick after light rain.

Irrigation Well Test Run Near Cemetery
Wim Goding conducted a several hour test of his irrigation well south of town on Wednesday. He pumped about 1200 gallons per minute, sending water about three-fourths of a mile east into the main ditch. Gering Girl Killed After Fall From Family Truck
Lucille Alice Specht 11 dies after slipping from a fender while riding with siblings Harold 12 and Ruby 9 near Gering. The truck sharply turned in the family yard, crushing her head beneath a rear wheel. Her parents Mr and Mrs Jacob Specht Jr reside four and a half miles southwest of Gering. The accident occurred Monday morning of the prior week.

Ball of rattlesnakes found on Hildreth ranch near Lyman
George Braziel, while riding on the Hildreth ranch nine miles southwest of Lyman, observed about 75 rattlesnakes in a ball the size of a nail keg. He and his brother Bob used a hose attached to a car exhaust to drive the snakes from the hole, and after a few puffs the snakes died, seemingly instantly, as reported by the Hyannis Tribune.
