North Platte mill firm resigns contract to Farmers Grain
North Platte Milling Company quit its running contract with the local mill and turned the business over to Farmers Grain & Milling Company. The switch, made Monday, aims to expand North Platte operations as they add equipment and center interests there. R. A. Babcock says Farmers will continue to run the mill and serve customers until new arrangements are set.

Kimball Defeats Cheyenne Indians and Sidney in Double Win
On July Fourth the Kimball baseball team defeated the Cheyenne Indians by 6 to 3 in a well played game. Sunday they routed Sidney 15 to 2 at Sidney diamond. Fred Johnson of Potter caught both games for Kimball. Next Sunday Sidney plays at Kimball.

Firemen Picnic A Big Success At Fourth Of July Event
The Firemen's Fourth of July picnic drew 1000 to 1500 attendees from the county. Excellently delivered speeches by A M Leafdale and Rev L V Slocomb, music by Dr Light's band and Miss Feary's orchestra, and athletic events including a tug of war, plus a baseball game between Antelope Divide and Young Potter Bear Cats, marked a peaceful, well organized celebration with a profitable ending.

Potter Village Special Election on Water Plant Purchase
Potter voters will decide next Tuesday July 15 whether the village should buy the Farmers Grain & Milling Co light plant for 6500 and possibly add a second unit not over 3000. Polls open 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the old Potter State Bank building. If approved, no bond issue required and rates may stay, or even drop. The village plans to install a second unit for fuel savings and reliability. Citizens are urged to vote.

Harvest Wage Decision Made At County Meeting
The County Farm Bureau Extension Board set harvest wages at 2.50 dollars per day plus board for common labor. The County Agent's office will again arrange labor, contact by phone or in person, and list unused workers for later assignment. Harvest will spread over a longer period this season, with winter wheat nearly ready and other grains following.

Ten Millionth Ford Car Heads West to Potter Arrival
The ten millionth Ford car is due in Potter today during its coast to coast run from New York to the west coast. The journey has been preboarded in every city and town it has passed, with large demonstrations at many stops. In Cheyenne it will meet the Denver auto company’s 53rd Ford car.

Air Mail Plane Wrecked at Chappell
The Omaha Bee reports a United States mail plane piloted by Frank Yager crashed near Chappell on Monday after encountering a tornado. Yager escaped with a bruised hip and cut lip, the plane was wrecked, and both were brought to Cheyenne. cargo was recovered by Jack Night. This marked the first accident for the new night and day air mail service.
