William Bundy, Vogler of Kimball, and Peter Wangen were involved when Bundy’s Ford collided with Vogler’s motorcycle near town. The cycle toppled, pinning the men under the car. all escaped serious injury, though bruised. Bundy may sue Vogler for damages.
A large crowd from Sule Kimball Pine Bluffs and surrounding coun try joined in a daylong W O W celebration. Parades stage hold up and races entertained amid speech by Martin Mortensen and Roy Ames poetry, with band music and a late fireworks finish. The event boosted local pride and featured spirited demonstrations of frontier themes and community history.
The Omaha Concert Company gave a well rendered evening that pleased most in attendance. A modest crowd met them but many expect a packed house on a return tour as the orchestra, soloists, and duets drew strong applause especially Prof Varalla with the Mocking Bird. The dance to follow was of the highest class and the music was well played.
Reports from SEXTORP describe a W O W celebration near Potter, Sunday visits by Mr and Mrs Meyers at N Jacobson, crops improving versus last year, social dances planned by Tierman Schubarth on the 19th, Carl Carlson fencing a flax field, A W Olson and wife visiting Andrew Nelson, Mrs A Erickson arriving from California to see son Gotfred Erickson, Edwin Erickson roadwork with traction plows, Lewis Brett harvesting alfalfa and anticipating a second crop, and a sighting of fall wheat near N Jacobsen’s 65 dere south of the house.
An arrangement between two Protestant church congregations has extended union meetings for weeks. Initial expiry was postponed after a near unanimous vote to continue, with larger crowds and enthusiastic services noted. The young people’s gathering last Sunday highlighted benefits and the leader’s effectiveness. See paper for next Sunday’s announcement.

On July 8 1913 with all present: Thornburgs and Mahler & Thornburg to remove street scale and fill hole within 5 days. U P RR lands segregated from town limits extends four miles along track reducing town taxes by about 650 dollars.
Bulletin 137 details experiments at North Platte Experimental Substation on growing forest trees in tilled and rough land. It notes twenty five acres of trials, many species, and marks coarse findings: conifers fail on tilled ground, cottonwood and poplars promising, local borers and freezes impact certain species, shrubs and flowers offer solid results with adequate water, and the report is available free from K. A. Burnett at the Experiment Station in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Walter Swartz was accidentally shot Friday evening by Joe Johnson, son of C. W., while bystanders fired to drive horses. The bullet entered above the pelvic area and traveled to the back, then lower pelvic region. He was taken to Potter and later to a Cheyenne hospital, with Dr. Ames reporting improvement and no infection. Johnson aids the injured and earns community respect for his conduct.
The Potter Cubs defeated Sidney School in a dramatic baseball game played on a rough improvised diamond east of Adams Grove. A huge crowd witnessed a tightly contested 5 error affair with Spitzbwart pitching for Potter until Linn relieved him in the 9th. Manager Babcock earned praise for guiding a team that energized the town despite ground conditions.
Union meeting scheduled for next Sunday evening at the Methodist church. Catholic Church services held the fourth Saturday each month in the hall at 10 a.m. Additional announcements will be shared from time to time.
