Early Overland Trail Wagon Train Led by Captain Bonneville

George Gerlach Dies Suddenly in Sidney Nebraska
George Gerlach, longtime Sidney resident and assistant receiver for the state banking department, died of a heart attack at his home Tuesday morning. He oversaw liquidation of several western Nebraska banks and was a Nebraska pioneer, having earlier worked as a banker at Harrison and, in his youth, as a cowboy on the western plains.

New 150 HP Fairbanks engine starts at light plant
The Fairbanks Morris 150 horsepower diesel engine began operation last Friday under erector C N Johnson and is now in daily use though not yet officially accepted. It runs efficiently, uses fuel oil far more economically, and is expected to generate 10 to 13 kilowatts under full load. The project cost 10686 dollars with 45 percent grants from the government and the rest from a ten year debenture loan, no tax needed. A second modernization bid for the switchboard at an estimated 2200 dollars, with similar grant and loan terms, will be opened March 9. Floors await completion after switchboard moves. Visitors may view the engine in operation.
