Hundred Five Served at Father Son Banquet
One hundred and five plates were served Wednesday evening at the community father and son banquet at the Methodist church parlors. The Methodist ladies served the meal and decorated with patriotic colors. A bomb with a paper hat charm inside added a playful touch. Dean Hagemeister presided as toastmaster and the program moved quickly with music by a male quartet led by Rev Quaife. Rev French of Chappell gave an applauded talk. The Leafdale four generations were honored and Joe Schwartz noted for attending with the largest group. The event was declared a huge success.

Former Citizen Dies at Omaha After Appendectomy
George Irlewine died Sunday at an Omaha hospital after an appendectomy. He farmed near Tekamah and previously lived at Potter. He is survived by his wife, four children, and a brother in Idaho. Mrs. Erlewine's mother, Mrs. Wray Wyckouf, went to Tekamah to be with her daughter, and George H. Gunderson left Potter to attend his son-in-law's funeral. Funeral services were held in Tekamah on Wednesday.

Nielsen Silver Anniversary celebrated with open house
Mr and Mrs Albert Nielsen observed their twenty fifth wedding anniversary on February 12 1941 at their country home east of Potter with open house for about 80 guests. Food included sandwiches cake cookies ice cream fruit salad and coffee. Gifts featured four decorated wedding cakes and a mock wedding in the evening with participants in period dress. Next day a large dinner was served to many out of town guests including families from Hay Springs Dannebrog Aurora and Sidney among others.

Commemorative Service Held for Spanish American Veterans
Sidney Post No 610 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars held a commemorative service for the Spanish American veterans of Cheyenne and Kimball counties in the Sidney city auditorium on February 15, the 43rd anniversary of the sinking of the Maine. A male quartet consisting of Phil Crantz Parker Nelson Douglas Reetz and William Snyder sang several songs. The main address was by A M Leafdale.
