Dry draws turn raging currents as heat melts snow
Residents recount a severe thaw where once dry draws filled to three to five feet deep after a warm February. Leonard Johnson and family barely escaped a flooded Lawrence Fork creek north of Potter as their stalled car was swept away. Cars were stranded across the highway east of Potter with water in carburetors and seats submerged, some ten feet wide sand draws flowing for days. Authorities note rapid snowmelt and frost in the ground as factors, with property damage including undermined cement fills.

Harold Hanson sixteen of Sidney formerly Lodge Pole died by shotgun self harm Sunday morning. He was a high school student with no stated reason for the act and authorities are mystified.
