Two big games set for Potter next week feature Paxton All-Star five versus Potter on Monday evening and Kimball high school visiting Tuesday. Potter seeks revenge after Kimball beat them in extra time earlier in the year as Supt Green of Kimball referees.
A crowd of about three to four hundred gathered in Potter to view a rare Union Pacific steam relic first run over sixty years ago. The engine and old passenger cars drew spectators to inspect the caboose and relics as the train lingered over twenty minutes near the depot. Ted Farr, injured in an earlier accident near Dalton, is reported improving in Dalton Hospital. A baby boy was born to Mr and Mrs Lloyd Shaw of the Thixt territory on February 12.

Dr A I Hedlund a prominent county physician and long time Dalliton resident died in a Omaha hospital last Friday after a period of illness He was 45 years old and had been a patient there for some time The community mourns the loss of a well known medical figure.
A meeting of the Farmers Union Shipping Association is set for 2 00 p m Saturday March 4 at the old Potter State Bank building in Potter All members are urged to attend.
County clerk Henry Paviat announces the road between Sections 9 and 10, township 13, range 50, is closed for repairs until funds are available. The notice urges motorists to seek alternative routes and warns of ongoing work.
A deputy collector of Internal Revenue will be at Potter Nebraska on February 24 to assist taxpayers in preparing their federal income tax returns. The service is free of charge for those required to file.
The Potter girls were edged 16 to 14 by Lodge Pole in a tight Friday night contest on Lodge Pole floor. A late field goal secured Lodge Pole the win as the game remains tied at 14 late. The Potter boys, by contrast, beat Lodge Pole 26 to 14 showing stronger play and improved defense.
The Potter M. Ei church team added two victories to its record last week and this week, defeating Kimball 41 to 21 on Thursday and Burns 44 to 26 on Monday on the local court. Referee C H Place, praised for accuracy, oversaw the Burns game as Potter high school coach and church team preparatory work continue ahead of next Monday's game with Paxton. The 21-Club beat six grade schools 10 to 2 prior to the Burns game, with Frost Christensen scoring six, Christensen two, and Walter Nelson two. Nearby business visitor W L Larson of Sidney stopped by Potter on Monday. The Methodist Men's Council met Thursday and Friday with over 1,000 delegates, including 300 from Kearney district, as twelve prominent speakers addressed attendees in Des Moines, Iowa, and the local delegation reported gaining renewed zeal for church work.
The Potter high school boys basketball team, guided by coach C. H. Place, leaves Wednesday with several fans for Chadron to compete in a tournament Thursday through Saturday. Best wishes to the team.

Art Brandenburg and Frank Matthes family traveled to Flagler Colorado Saturday, returning Sunday evening. Mr and Mrs W D Mathewson spent Sunday evening at the Aug Thies home. Miss Dorothy Rich of Pleasant View school is reported on the sick list. Frank Mueller visited Frank Matthes Tuesday. Herman Schubarth escorted Ant Schubarth Monday. Oral Cuddeford called at the Frank Matthes home Tuesday. Charley Thimer of South Divide visited the John Heiner home Tuesday. Aye Thies was seen in Potter Tuesday.
Mr and Mrs J M Madden Roscoe and Joe Nelson visited Thursday evening at the J W Bertramson home. Several families spent Sunday with the Mad dens and Larson households. Phillip Nelson shipped cattle to Omaha Tuesday. Rodney Bertramson and others visited Phillip Nelson and C T Larson homes Sunday. C T Larson and Nelson households hosted calls Friday and Sunday with multiple relatives and friends in attendance.
The Woman's Club met Friday February 11 with Mrs. Bing. Mrs. Crowell led the program on Governments of the Americas and South America. Papers on Canada Alaska and Mexico were read by Mrs. Maude Reatz and Mrs. Craic. A piano solo by Mrs. Lee Hagmeister was enjoyed. The next meeting will be February 25 at Mrs. I. C. Harris home with topic on Governments of the United States.
Local Methodist notes report February Sunday school attendance at 166 with hopes to reach 200 next Sunday. Echo meeting planned. Grand Island district council reported over a thousand attendees, 368 from Kearney district. Letter from District Superintendent Oliver Keve mentioned. pastor G M Binge urges keeping date in memory for Dr Keve’s visit.
A Dix crowd greeted a nearly sixty year old train amid small town activity. Locals Mrs. Lemkuhl and Miss Proudy visited Ovid over the weekend. Gladys Wendt and other parents were seen visiting. Jens Jensen returned from Kimball improved in health. Mrs. Emory Horum and Mamie Drake called on Mrs. Green. Elmer Rystrom shipped two head of cattle. his wife accompanied the shipment. Mr. and Mrs. Eders and children returned from Scribner. Wanda Whiteman visited Mrs. Clara Gaw. Clara Parker rode to Kimball. Joh Stafford made a business trip to Big Springs. Howard Attaberry of North Platte called on Dix residents. Mr. and Mrs. Shaw of Sidney moved to a farm nearby. Mildred Goding and Myrtle Graham attended a Potter show. Lawrence Tabler and Florence Shaw were married in Sidney on February 8. Gus Harrison and Louis Southerland planned a dance in Kimball. Geo. Foskett, Mrs. Shrader and son Charles visited Kimball. Mrs. Shader took her son to the doctor. The Legion met Tuesday evening. Lone Scout members hosted a party for Lester and Howard Voltz before their Utah move. A ten pound boy arrived at Lloyd Shaw’s Saturday. all are well. Friends gathered at the Sutherland home Tuesday for a party and late lunch. all had a jolly time.
