Potter Post No 291 American Legion will meet in Biggs hall next Wednesday evening February 23 at 7 o'clock. Election of officers and other important business. L R Hager Acting Commander.
Banner County News-Word reports J. W. Farmer died in the eastern part of the state after being diagnosed with hardening of the arteries. He had traveled to Omaha with his wife for treatment, followed by the death of his elderly father in Nemaha county. Farmer had lived near Harrisburg on the Ed Pierce place for three years and leaves his wife and three adult sons, along with many friends.
A compact calendar lists events from February 19 to March 1. Seyfang Theatre feature on Saturday, church on Sunday, sales by G W Shriver and Frank Hruza, Washington's birthday observances, Johnston sale, band concert, Commercial Club meet, Ameri ot Legion meeting and dance, Leyfang Theatre regular show, Pine Bluffs and Potter basketball game, and Art Brandenburg sale.

George G. Meyer of Sidney committed death by own action last week by drinking strychnine according to local reports. He was found in his residence and authorities are treating the case as a suicide and noting no foul play. The incident ends a troubled period for Meyer who had prior health concerns.
The Kimball high school basketball team wins decisive games and aims to reach Class A in the Lincoln tournament with continued strong play.
The Kimball Rooster band is slated to give a concert in Pine Bluffs Wyoming today February 18. The event highlights local music offerings with a brief performance at the town venue.
Judge H M Grimes sentenced F G Story of Bushnell area to an indeterminate term of one to seven years after a guilty plea to stealing oats. Story, awaiting district court action, was sent to Lincoln. Sheriff Forsling escorted him. Story has a large needy family including a severely ill wife and nine children.
Notice to parents. A beginners' class starts Monday February 21 1921 in the primary room of Potter Public School. All parents should send children at this time as no other class will be formed this spring. H S Robinson Supt.
A Jefferson County Republican item recalls an editor who collapsed from shock after praise for one piece, then recovered and returned to work only to be berated for another article as he reached his home.
Lincoln McConnell will present the third and final lecture of the lyceum course on Saturday March 5 at 8 p m at Leyfang Theater. The G D LL D lecturer has lectured in Potter before and will deliver The Guy that Delivers the Goods. Season tickets admit. Remember the date and place.
Two birthday parties in one day for Mr. O. F. Seavill marked his 73rd birthday last Sunday the 13th. The event highlighted a joyful milestone with family and friends celebrating his long life.
The Kick Off meeting for Cheyenne County Farm Bureau membership will be held in Sidney next Monday afternoon February 21. Prominent Farm Bureau farmers will address the gathering, and the drive is expected to recruit at least ninety percent of county farmers. Joining links members to State and National Farm Bureaus, promoting agricultural development through cooperative efforts.
A party of friends including Mr and Mrs E G Thornburg Neva and Eddie Mr and Mrs J H Mahler Frances and Bruce Mr and Mrs L Ri Hater and baby Virginia arrived with many eatables at noon and spent the afternoon. Andrew Nelson and later Harry Warner and daughter Adeine 12 joined to congratulate and stay for entertainment. All departed feeling the 13th never had been an unlucky day.
The Potter Volunteer Fire Department met on the 4th and 11th to elect officers. Earl DePue was chosen foreman and N S Miller assistant foreman, with J A Woten president Sh R Hager secretary R V Francis treasurer Karl Fricke chief and trustees R L MacAdam E H Biggs Peter Hansen. Attendees enjoyed a smoker and late-night cards, with a large turnout reporting a royal time.

On Washington's birthday February 22 at 2 15 p m the Potter Concert Band will march from the schoolhouse to the square and play a few selections on Potter streets to show they are practicing and aim for regular street concerts in the near future.

A Potter Commercial Club gathering in Biggs hall Wednesday evening failed to reach a quorum for electing officers as many attendees were申 applicants for membership. Chairman Hagemeiater led as the group pledged support for raising flour for Near East Relief. the next meeting is planned for Tuesday afternoon after band rehearsal with officers to be elected and a membership drive ongoing.

The Ladies Aid Society of the M E Church will hold a bake sale in the Johnson-Cords Co store on Saturday after noon February 19. Members who did not contribute to the sale earlier are asked to contribute. C W Johnson returned Wednesday from Omaha where he was hospitalized for a serious operation and is convalescing. Mrs Johnson, who went with him to Omaha, also returned Wednesday.
