Contractors plan a fire proof tile and stucco filling station 18 by 24 feet on west lots near Gunderson blacksmith shop. Construction to start soon with pumps along the street south of the site. The Farmers Union is new in Potter’s gas and oil business yet has shown strong profits for stockholders. Manager not named.
Bridgeport Nebraska February 9 AP Gus Stark a farmer chased a laughing coyote along a lonely road in his auto without a gun. He rammed the vehicle into a creek jumped out and held the animal's head under water until subdued. The coyote hide hangs at his home.
The first meeting of the 1985 softball association has been called for tonight at the Biggs Barber Shop. Representatives from all clubs that played last year or expect to play this year are urged to be present to help lay the 1935 plan. Kmball is still interested and would have nine representatives there. The softball attraction looks promising.
Sunday school at 10 a m and morning worship at 11 a m with the sermon The Problem of Sin from S D Gordons Quiet Talks on Personal Problems Epworth League at 6 30 pm and evening worship at 7 30 pm. A cordial welcome awaits at all services.
Potter falls to Cheyenne in a four hour forty minute radio chess match, resigning after 100 plus moves. The Cheyenne club clinches the championship by winning two of three. Seiday's prior game was defensive with cautious play, and both players praised a potential in-person rematch at Pine Bluffs. Radio operators were Dean Hagemeister for Potter and Ollie Frey for Cheyenne.
Chick Boyes players return to Potter on Saturday February 2 with a double program headed by a new musical comedy The Old Dutch Mill with singing dancing and lavish scenery plus the three act drama The Woman in the Case and vaudeville between acts Two new cast members join the company promising the strongest local program yet offered Admission prices remain unchanged for the double bill.

George Marsh of Sidney suffered multiple bruises and a fractured knee after his McDaniel transfer truck left the road near Herdon and burned in a ditch. He said faulty lights caused the accident. the vehicle was a total loss but Marsh escaped serious injury after being thrown clear as flames erupted.
Retail shops and businesses in Potter will close next Friday afternoon February 22 in observance of Washington's Birthday. Local merchants requested the notice to inform customers of the holiday closure.
Starting February 21 the Luce Amusement Company of Bayard will present a talking picture show at Seyfang hall each Thursday evening. The opening feature is Stingaree with Richard Dix and Irne Dunn alongside comedies. Admission is 25 cents, with merchants’ tickets available in Potter for 10 cents.
Mrs Daisy Callison 57 died at Walter Reed hospital in Washington D C Born in Stella Nebraska she was married to Dr Callison They had one son Dr Robert Callison formerly of Potter Two sisters Mrs W L Wixon and Mrs Ella Werner of Peetz and a brother Judge John one of Minot Sr survive Funeral services were held at Fally City Nebraska and interment made beside her husband who died several years ago

Dr Mockett of Kimball shared details of his South Sea Islands trip to the high school Friday afternoon. He recounted visits to each island and noted points of interest. Souvenirs from various places, including spoons from many countries, were shown. Visitors included Mrs George Reetz, her mother Mrs Kaderli, Doran Leafdale, and Vaughan Jacobson.

Seventeen students from seventh and eighth grades joined last Monday evening for a performance of David Copperfield in Sidney. The trip used Wheeler's bus and followed readings the story in class. Absences increased due to illness with classmates including Dorothy Lovall Bennie Gibbins Clarence Henry and others.
Cheyenne county Corn-Hog control association has begun sign-up campaigns with 80 to 90 percent of sign-ups from farmers who plan to farm as in 1934. Precinct elections set for February 21. sign-up ends February 19 for those voting on 1935 community committeemen. New 1935 rules allow unrestricted feeder hog purchases with proper records. unkept records may count purchases as farm farrows.
Mr and Mrs L K Nelson of the south divide quietly celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary last Tuesday with an open house for relatives and close friends. They have long resided in the state and are regarded as staunch, dependable people with widespread respect and best wishes.

They warned that if mountain moisture does not improve, the water situation could be serious or critical for the community relying on spring rains from those mountains.
The former Liberty State bank in Sidney announced a 5 percent dividend bringing its three and a half year total to 45 percent. The defunct Platte Valley bank in Bridgeport declared a 10 percent dividend, totaling 45 percent in the same period.

January 1935 at 125,150 cars, January 1984 at 35 cars, and 135 cars respectively.
Gilbert Ross age 71 died at the Bayard home of his daughter Mrs. Blanche Ruff. Born in Pennsylvania he moved his family to Bayard in 1909 where they have since resided. Surviving are two sons and a daughter.

Clyde Oskins, deputy sheriff of Morrill County, becomes first occupant of Broadwater’s new jail. The door was not locked as he stayed to quarantine his family for smallpox and to tend to his duties.
The C. & Waggoner Meat Market in Kimball has closed its doors as processing taxes burden small retailers. Mr. Waggoner opened the market in 1918, ran it until 1928, leased it briefly until last fall, then resumed ownership before the closure.
The Kimball well is considered good by the council after lowering 14 feet and filling a 220 gallon tank in just over 3 minutes. That equals about 680 gallons per minute, compared to the old well’s 350 gallons per minute.
