Music Notes Prompt Busy Day at Local School Festival
Mrs Bernard Walker and Mrs Nel la Wheeler visited the seventh and eighth grade music class last Friday. Janice Babcock performed two piano pieces Narcissus Nevin and U S Field Artillery March Souza. Lois Mae Hagemeister played two solos for grades three and four, Dolores Coulter one for grades five and six. Glee clubs await festival music and both glee clubs and the band will perform at Mitchell on April 8.

Mrs. Sarah Buchanan of Dalton died at age 66 after a prolonged illness from cancer. She had endured the disease for several years and was mourned by family and friends.

The Rev. David S. Hurlburt, 90, known as the covered wagon preacher, died at his daughter's home in Athlaby South Carolina. In the late 1880s he traveled the panhandle of Nebraska as a Baptist minister, creating and filling numerous pulpits.

William E Moe 74 Bayard resident dies at home
William E Moe 74 of Bayard died at his home. He came to the Bayard vicinity in 1884 and homesteaded north of town. He worked as a freighter between Sidney Camp Clarke and Alliance. He signed the first beet growers contract for Great Western Sugar in the North valley. In 1890 he married Edna Belle Davis at Bayard. Survived by eight children and ten grandchildren.

Mrs. D M Amsberry longtime Custer County resident since 1879 died at her daughter’s home near Broken Bow.
