The Potter public school marked the hour Wednesday when ex president Woodrow Wilson was laid to rest. At 2 o'clock students rose and sang America Flag of the Tree and Lead Kindly Light then stood with bowed heads for thirty seconds in tribute to the departed leader.
The issue lists a combination sale act involving Geo Leafdale and MH I and GA Jones to be held at Geo Leafdale place on Tuesday February 12. The notice names the parties and date, directing interested buyers to attend the sale at the specified location.
No. 18 eastbound passenger crashed into No. 2 at Hillsdale last Sunday morning, delayed traffic for hours during a severe snow storm. No. 2 had stopped for orders. No. 18 could not see block signals. No injuries reported. rear coach of No. 2 was nearly demolished but empty.
A Friday basketball game at Lorenzo ended in a disputed 20 to 19 Potter victory or 19 to 18 Lorenzo claim. A late Potter field goal was debated as timekeeper signals diverged, with both sides offering different outcomes. The sporting editor of the Omaha World-Herald has not yet ruled.
The Better Cheyenne County Association postpones its election of officers and dairy meeting due to the storm. The meeting is rescheduled for Monday February 18 at 10 30 a m. All county delegates and farmers interested in dairy cows are urged to attend.
The farm sale of Hugh Kenoyer will be held next Thursday February 14 at his place two miles west of Potter. Mr and Mrs Kenoyer plan to move to Broken Bow Nebraska shortly after the sale. The community regrets losing these respected residents but wishes them well in their new home.
The John son Cords store hosted a guessing contest on English walnuts in the window for two weeks. 3913 nuts counted, 3914 including the judge. Gust Cavalli won $4.00 with 1320, Frank Hruza second with 1325, and a three-way tie for third at 3900 among Frank Hruza Art Nelson and Mrs Quein.
Lean men defeated corpulent rivals in a Monday gym game. The lean team vowed another win would be their finish. Proceeds from the evening fund Potter team travel to the Chadron tournament.
A representative from the Internal Revenue Service office of the Collector of Internal Revenue will be in Potter on February 18 to assist taxpayers with filing income tax returns. He will then travel to Nimball on the 15th and 16th, Dalton on the 19th, and Sidney on the 20th 21st and 22nd.
The First Lutheran Church Potter invites all to Sunday afternoon services at 2 o clock with a sermon of special interest. The note thanks contributors to European Relief and reports generous offerings and pledges for church upkeep, praising the congregation’s affairs and the people.
A list of new and renewing subscribers includes Lewis Olson Lester Stecher Homer Y Fisher FH P Nelson and Oscar Redcen, all of the city, with thanks for their remittance to the weekly publication.
M. E. Church notes schedule including Sunday School at 10 a.m. and morning service at 11 with topic First Things First, evening service at 7:30 on On Great Need. Sunday School contest lists Big Springs Chappell Curley Lodge Pole Sidney Kimball Potter with three month run starting January 1. Lodge Pole leads, Potter touted for booby prize. Pastor L. V. Slocumb urges punctual attendance and rally around Potter, calls for sick and shut-in visits, and offers church help with hen coops.
Last Saturday was warm and sunny but sudden changes hit the region with a strong wind and falling snow. Sunday saw a near-blizzard that threatened a real storm before abating by noon and leaving deep drifts. A further inch fell Tuesday night without wind, followed by mild days and partial melting for a total precipitation of 0.54 inches.
The Wm. Heinemann sale last Wednesday proved successful with a large crowd, lively bidding, and 112 cars counted on the grounds. 325 lunches were served as the Heinemanns plan to move to Laramie Wyoming, where they will make their home, with well wishes from the community.
Next Monday night in the high school gymnasium the fats and leans will engage in basketball again, but only mined men may participate and all single men are barred from playing. Games start at 8 with admission of 20 and 35 cents. Net proceeds help defray Potter team expenses for Chadron tournament.
The Farmers Union Trading Company sold its entire plant including mill elevator and light plant for 25000 to a local group. The stockholders meeting at Ute church was well attended and the new company plans to complete organization soon and continue farming operations.
A pointed letter from United States Senator Arthur Capper denounces the Association Against the Prohibition Amendment and its dinner plan at the New Willard. He argues the Eighteenth Amendment preserves state police powers but opposes nullification and urges enforcing prohibition rather than returning powers to wet states.
The Fairview Dairy says it has ample cream for old and new customers and asks daily customers and others to notify during delivery or by phone 2813 the evening before.
A digest of Nebraska achievements showcases silica deposits, top corn production, sugar beet yield, vast highway mileage, no mines, and strong agricultural foundations. It notes major markets, irrigation, cattle and hay production, large creameries and mills, and a heavy emphasis on farm-based wealth and landholdings.

The Cheyenne high school basketball teams host Potter on their home floor this evening. The girls start at 7:45 with the boys following after. Potter seeks an upset as Cheyenne aims to keep momentum after a 18 to 15 win over Kimball on Cheyenne soil.
County agent Kh L Taylor, Lincoln Extension Service specialist, spoke to farmers in Gurley about dairy cow profitability, population and crop production trends, meat consumption shifts, and farm price influences. He demonstrated farm accounting systems and provided simple account books for farmers to use.
Mrs John Clausen underwent appendicitis surgery in Omaha last week while Mrs John Wagoner was moved to North Platte for the same procedure. Lincoln visitor Miss Lillian Miller aided at the Wagoner home amid illness. Local visits include Géne Binning and Lloyd Boggs party from Hershey. Finley brothers move into Godling house as Forrest Knox relocates to Eaton Colorado. Dix Fire Department met at the Wintergarden theatre for a regular session.
Cheyenne county slowly improves from disruptions though conditions remain unsettled. The schedule lists Cheyenne at Potter on February 8. Potter visits Chadron for a tournament on February 13 to 16. Sidney Academy visits Potter on February 22 and Potter travels to Cheyenne for the league tournament, set for late February or early March.
