Last Friday and Saturday brought 2.36 inches of moisture through rain and heavy wet snow. About 200 tons of moisture per acre fell with nine inch depths, sparing crops and stabilizing the prairie. Roads deteriorated but main highways stayed passable. no impassable routes reported.
The famous First Infantry, formed by an Act of Congress on June 3, 1784, is among the oldest U S regiments. It fought in many battles across Alabama, Canada, Florida, Louisiana, and at Lundy's Lane, Monterrey, Vera Cruz, Vicksburg, and Santiago among others, later aiding in the Philippine Insurrection and serving as a training unit at Camp Lewis. Known as the Old Grey Mare, its soldiers proudly claim lineage to the First Infantry.
Children and adults are asked to meet for practice next Sunday at 2 15 PM for the church Christmas program. All interested, especially children, are urged to be present.

The 1st Infantry drill squad leaders plan a feature program tomorrow led by Serge J. Baron Crayton. Members include Private Marvin F. Dewey and others, with 37 millimeter gun drills. Warrant Officer John S. Martin conducts the regimental band, joined by Technical Sgt. Randall L. Welles and a list of musicians. Army demonstrations in Potter on Saturday December 9 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. act as the event highlight.

Tom Iverson delivered the new Dodge-6 chassis bus built by Badger in Omaha and purchased through M W Osborn at Sidney for District 9. The 40 to 50 seat bus debuted on route, with assembly done in Omaha, and began daily service after Tuesday’s transport. The junior class announces the play Copperhead on December 15 at Seyfang Hall, 8:00 p.m.
Tomorrow in Potter a crack drill troop and band from Fort Francis E Warren will perform on main street at 9:00 a m. The 40 member First Infantry unit will showcase drills weapons and a lecture on enlistment. If weather fails the event moves to Leyfang hall. The program runs 9:00 to 10:30 a m and is free to all residents including school children and adults. The Army recruitment goal includes five dozen 18 to 35 year olds before December 15 and attendance is urged for a once in a lifetime educational event.

B H Murten pastor leads Methodist services with Sunday school at 10:00 a.m. and worship at 11:00 a.m. Epworth League meets at 11:00 a.m. Evening Worship at 6:30 p.m. Last Sunday snow reduced attendance though moisture was welcomed. Choir reheares Wednesday at 7:30. Ladies Aid apron gate at December 9 dinner. Everyone is welcome at all services.
The Ladies Aid society announces its annual dinner and apron sale will be held tomorrow Saturday December 9 at the M church parlors. Dinner is cafeteria style with roast pork and dressing turkey and dressing and several side dishes priced from 3 to 10 cents.
F C Mather passed away at his home in Aurora Nebraska on November 11 1933. He held extensive land interests in Cheyenne county and later settled in Potter near the Lloyd Juelfs home. He participated in a Union Pacific land drawing and acquired numerous farms through the years. He was well known in the community for his regular visits and management of his holdings.
A year end reflection asks who am I, presenting myself as a benefactor to homes and businesses, claiming to bless, support, and comfort through 1934 with ministries of sympathy, guidance, and sheltering love.
Mr and Mrs Jay Reetz and their children from Bloomfield Nebraska surprised Mr and Mrs Geo Reetz by attending Thanksgiving dinner. They also visited the homes of Fred Reetz and August Mielke before returning home Tuesday morning.
Potter's application for a $1200 Civil Works Administration grant presented by the village board was approved by the state board in Lincoln. Tuesday workers were at the project. The grant is a 100 percent gift for labor with administrative and material costs borne by the village. Two crews, three days a week, earn 40 cents an hour. Directed by the village board and Marshal Karl Fricke. The grant will relieve unemployment.
Anticipation builds for December 9 as Potter hosts a busy day with the annual Lades Aid dinner at noon and a broad merchants’ sale. Officials and residents expect a red-letter day regardless of the weather, urging everyone to spend the day in Potter.
The B H H club had a pleasant Thursday session hosted by Mrs Hite with plans for an all day December 7 meeting and a Christmas box. Local families visited kin across Brownton, Burns, Cassville, Dix, Wallace, Tie Siding, and Sterling as lists of visits and Thanksgiving gatherings are recorded amid drifting snow affecting school bus routes.
The junior class presents Copperehad on December 15 with curtain at 8:00. Performers and staff invite the community to attend this lighthearted holiday event.
