Wyoming Cattle War Raid Leaves Nebraska Trail
A Nebraska newspaper recounts the 1892 Powder river cattle war raid. An armed party of rustlers and cattle barons moved from Cheyenne to Douglas, attacked the K C ranch on Little Powder River, and sparked a wider conflict ending with U.S. regulars aiding a siege at T A ranch. Trappers Jones and Champion escaped Wyoming custody, were pursued in Chadron, and were moved to Omaha for liquor-to-Indians charges. The trial collapsed for jury issues.
